  • Patent number: 7480363
Abstract: A digital radiography imaging system for acquiring digital images of an object, and a method for transforming digital images into an absolute thickness map characterizing the object under inspection. The system includes a radiation source for directing radiation through a desired region of the object, and a radiation detector having a plurality of sensing elements for detecting radiation passing through the object. Numerical data generated from each sensing element is calibrated, for example by correcting for variations in radiation paths between the source and detector, by correcting for variations in the spatial frequency response (MTF) of the detector, by correcting for variations in the geometric profile of the object under inspection, and by correcting for material contained in and/or around the object. The calibrated data is processed in order to generate and display an absolute thickness map of the object.

  • Patent number: 7464986
Abstract: Improved side sill or rocker panel trim part and methods of molding same are provided. In the methods, a substantially “C” like cross-sectional shaped mold cavity is provided having a pair of terminal cavity portions therein. A living hinge-forming cavity space is provided between a midpoint of the cavity and one of the terminal end portions. The part comprises a longitudinal axis extending therealong and a pair of leg portions and an intermediate section interconnecting the leg portions. The part includes a substantially “C” shaped cross-section transverse to the longitudinal axis with the intermediate section including a show surface side with the legs extending away from the show surface side. A hinge joint is provided adjacent one of the legs so that the part is bendable at the hinge to form a substantially closed “C” position.

  • Patent number: 7455356
Abstract: A saddle for bicycles has a vertical swiveling unit and a horizontal sliding unit so that the saddle is moved vertically and horizontally, thus providing a sensation similar to riding a horse. The saddle includes a seat sliding unit providing on a lower surface of a seat to move the seat forward and backward, as a user moves forward and backward while sitting on the seat. A guide part with a predetermined length supports the seat sliding unit to guide a horizontal movement of the seat sliding unit, with a free end provided at a rear end of the guide part to allow the guide part to be swiveled vertically. A swiveling spring is provided at a front end of the guide part to provide a vertical elastic force to the guide part. A support part supports the swiveling spring and couples the support part to the seat support frame.

  • Patent number: 7456968
Abstract: A system and method employing optical disk drives for quantitative analysis of chemical and biochemical parameters, in which sensor materials disposed on an optical disk are responsive to physical, chemical, biochemical, and other parameters in the environment. The light interacts with the sensor materials when the light propagates through the sensor material, reflects off the optical media's reflective layer, and propagates back through the sensor region. The interacted light is captured by a photodetector, which outputs a response analog signal, for example, an analog voltage signal, which is indicative of a condition of the environment to which the sensor materials have been exposed. The system includes software algorithms which cause the laser source and optical detector to move to a specified location or logical block address of the disk, measure the optical signal during disk rotation, display a map of the sensor material response, and reduce the noise level in the measured signal.

  • Patent number: 7427342
Abstract: An electrodeionization (EDI) apparatus and method comprising an ion-depleting chamber for removing ions from liquids passed therethrough, wherein a resistive component is coupled proximate the outlet region of the chamber so as to increase the electrical resistance of the outlet region of the chamber with respect to the inlet region of the chamber. The resistive component may be coupled to the ion-selective membranes bordering the diluting chamber and/or the concentrate chambers. In an alternative embodiment, the resistive component may be coupled between the ion-exchanging media particles themselves within the ion-depleting chambers. In each embodiment, the electrical resistance of the outlet region is increased with respect to the inlet region of the chamber, with results being that electrical current is shifted from the outlet region toward the inlet region, thus enhancing overall deionization performance of the EDI device.

  • Patent number: 7419106
Abstract: A nozzle for use with a walk-behind blower includes a nozzle restriction due to a sloped upper wall of the nozzle body. The nozzle restriction increases the air velocity in the upper region of the nozzle and forces leaves and debris downward so that airflow through the lower region of the nozzle more effectively laterally displaces them. The configuration of the nozzle body may be adapted to accommodate a variety of engine outputs while utilizing a common design for a blower frame, impeller and shroud.
