Abstract: A reinforcing fiber texture for a composite material part is made by multi-layer three-dimensional weaving with a satin type weave or a multiple satin type weave. The texture comprises at least three layers of weft yarns T interlaced by warp yarns C, each warp yarn taking hold in alternation of one weft yarn in n from a first layer of weft yarns and of one weft yarn in n of a second layer of weft yarns adjacent to the first, the number n being an integer not less than 3. The paths of the warp yarns are similar and they are offset in the warp direction.

Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger for a hot fuel cell. The heat exchanger includes a first flow circuit for receiving a cool air stream and a second flow circuit for receiving a hot fluid coming from the cell, the first and second flow circuits having common surfaces for heat exchange. In accordance with the present invention, each of the first and second flow circuits comprises a plurality of concentric annular ducts that are interconnected. The two walls of each duct are mechanically decoupled from each other, thereby enabling them to expand independently of one another and avoiding mechanical stresses within the heat exchanger.
Abstract: A canned or sleeved rotary machine is equipped with a rotor (101) in contact with a particle-laden, acidic or corrosive gaseous atmosphere, and with a functional electrical assembly such as a magnetic bearing comprising a rotor armature (106) secured to the rotor (101) and placed in the gaseous atmosphere and a stator armature (104) secured to a stationary support (102) and positioned facing the rotor armature (106), the stator armature (104) comprising at least one winding (142, 143) and a ferromagnetic body (141) which are positioned in a protective metal enclosure comprising a solid part secured to the stationary support (102) or coincident therewith, a thin can or sleeve (103) and a hermetic passage (108) for wiring (108a) supplying the windings (142, 143).
Abstract: A buckling restrained brace includes a deformable core contained within an outer casing. Ends of the core protrude from the casing for connection to a frame or other structure. A length of the deformable core between its ends, referred to as the gauge or yielding section, is capable of deforming during an earthquake or blast loading. The gauge section is differentially heat treated from the ends so that the gauge section has a lower yield strength than the ends. The casing provides containment of the core to prevent buckling of the core. A metal foil interface or unbonding layer is provided between the deformable core and the casing so that the deformable core does not bind to the casing. The buckling restrained brace provides significant performance improvements over prior art BRBs coupled with simplified assembly.
Abstract: An annular combustion chamber has an inner wall and an outer wall of ceramic matrix composite material, together with a chamber end wall that is connected to the inner and outer walls. Elastically-deformable link elements connect the inner wall and the outer chamber walls to inner and outer metal casings. Each of the inner and outer chamber walls is subdivided circumferentially into adjacent sectors along longitudinal edges, each sector extending continuously from the end wall to the opposite end of the chamber and being folded outwards from the chamber at each of its longitudinal edges to form a portion having a U-shaped cross-section terminated by a folded-back margin that is spaced apart from the outer face of the corresponding chamber wall. The link elements are connected to the inner and outer chamber walls by being fastened to the sector margins.

Abstract: An interface is provided that configures itself dynamically based on sensor information received from a sensor assembly or actuator information received from an actuator assembly. The interface may be configured to interoperate with sensor assemblies including analog transducers, smart transducers providing digital outputs and various actuators. The sensor information or the actuator information may include information for managing power consumption associated with the operation of the sensor or the actuator. Using the sensor information or the actuator information, a power management scheme may be implemented to reduce power consumption and extend the operational time of a module. The sensor information also includes information about the sensor signal generated by the sensor. The information about the sensor signal allows the module to interoperate with more diverse types of sensors.

Abstract: An ion discharge gyroscope measures rotational motion and linear acceleration by generating symmetrical ion jet streams and measuring respective amounts of the jet streams impinging on detectors located so as to intercept the ion jet streams. The ion jet streams will be diverted by operation of the Coriolis effect and the differences in the amount of each ion jet stream impinging on the detectors is an indication of rotational motion and linear acceleration. In one embodiment, the ion jet streams are heated and the respective temperatures of the detectors are measured. In another embodiment, the amounts of current flowing through each detector, as contributed by the ion jet streams, are measured and used to determine rotation and acceleration.
Abstract: A system and method for providing enhanced quality audio streaming, including an audio streaming server providing an audio stream, a client including a buffer storing at least portions of the audio stream received from the audio streaming server, a buffer status sensor operative to monitor the contents of the buffer and a client audio output enhancer operative in response to an output from the buffer status sensor for providing a modified audio stream output.
Abstract: An assembled annular combustion chamber comprises an annular inner wall and an annular outer wall made of ceramic matrix composite material together with a chamber end wall connected to the inner and outer walls and provided with orifices for receiving injectors. Elastically-deformable link parts connect the inner wall and the outer wall of the chamber to inner and outer casings that are made of metal. The assembly formed by the inner wall, the outer wall, and the combustion chamber end wall is subdivided circumferentially into adjacent chamber sectors, each sector being made as a single piece of ceramic composite material and comprising an inner wall sector, an outer wall sector, and a chamber end wall sector. The link parts connect the inner metal casing and the outer metal casing respectively to each inner wall sector of the combustion chamber and to each outer wall sector of the chamber. The chamber end wall sectors are in contact with a one-piece ring to which they are connected.

The device includes at least one feed channel for feeding mono-propellant from a tank, and first and second concentric annular speed-up channels connected to the feed channels and having outlets opening out respectively via first and second annular injection sections situated in a plane that is substantially perpendicular to the axis of the chamber.
Abstract: A system and method for free-standing hermetic storage of bulk, boxed or bagged commodities including the use of a thin, lightweight ultra low permeability loadable sleeve, and optionally a UV-, wind- and rodent-resistant cover on top of the sleeve. For bagged or boxed commodities, loading may be done manually or with a forklift while the sleeve and/or cover is held open. For bulk commodities, the cover is used to prevent tearing of the sleeve during loading and as such, is placed over the sleeve prior to loading of the sleeve via a pneumatic grain conveyor or similar device.
