Patent number: 5528835Abstract: The chain saw tensioner of the present invention provides a sheath anchored at one end to the housing of the chain saw which sheath receives a tensioning shaft slidably therein. The tensioning shaft is interconnected with the housing by a tension screw and is slidably adjustable with respect to the sheath by actuating the tensioning screw. The tensioning shaft and the sheath have matching and aligned slots that cooperate to receive a sliding bolt therethrough. The sliding bolt is interconnected with the blade of the saw and, by actuating the tensioning screw, it may be moved forward with respect to the housing of the saw to move the saw blade forward to tension the chain. Included within the tensioning shaft is a spring interconnected with a bolt rest for receiving and supporting the sliding bolt. The spring provides a bias which acts on the bolt to bias the bolt, and accordingly the saw blade, forward with respect to the housing to tension the chain.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1994Date of Patent: June 25, 1996Inventor: Do-Jin Ra

Patent number: 5515571Abstract: A cleaning tool for telephone jacks is provided which includes a hollow cylindrical body and a polishing wheel having an internal aperture mounted within the body. The jack nose of the telephone jack is cleaned in the aperture. The wheel is secured in the body by a washer and lock nut arrangement. Both the washer and the lock nut also have apertures therein which are mounted concentric with the aperture in the polishing wheel so that the jack nose can be passed through the wheel and through the aperture in the washer, and into the cavity in the lock nut so that the entire length of the nose can be cleaned in the wheel. The cavity provides space for the residual matter removed from the cleaning site to be deposited for retrieval at a later time. A handle attached to the locking nut manipulates the device.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1994Date of Patent: May 14, 1996Assignee: Hose-McCann Telephone Co., Inc.Inventor: Frank A. Grande

Patent number: 5503079Abstract: A linear gas generant to be used in, for example, a gas generator for rapidly launching a flier such as a rocket or for rapidly inflating an air bag in a motor vehicle characterized by disposing a fibrous substance, such as copper, silver, aluminum or carbon, along the axial direction thereof. This linear gas generant can be stably deflagrated under a lower ambient pressure, irrespective of a large specific burning area.Disclosed further is a filter structure for a gas generator to be used in an air bag restraint system, which is produced by winding a continuous high-tensile-strength fiber bundle or yarn at a predetermined pitch around an outer surface of a member (a gas generation member) comprising ignition means and gas generation means actuated by the ignition means. This filter structure attains the reduction in weight of the gas generator.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1993Date of Patent: April 2, 1996Assignee: Daicel Chemical Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Kazuo Kishi, Jun Kato

Patent number: 5500635Abstract: A product, in particular a shoe, apparel, a ball or a fishing lure, incorporating an impact sensing element made from polymeric piezoelectric material. In response to impact, the piezoelectric material generates an electrical signal to a battery-powered light- or sound-emitting unit or to an information display device which is at least partially molded into or contained in the product, thus causing circuitry to energize the light- or sound-emitting device from the battery or to display information on the information display device. In some embodiments involving light-emitting devices such as LEDs, the light is conducted to an outside surface of the product directly through the LED or via one or more optical fibers. A shoe can be provided with numerous light-emitting devices, one or more impact sensing elements, a temperature sensor and appropriate circuitry to process the impact and temperature information.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1994Date of Patent: March 19, 1996Inventor: Jonathan C. Mott

Patent number: 5493792Abstract: A shoe comprising a sole portion having peripheral edges and at least one cushioning element comprising a chamber having flexible walls filled with a liquid composition, wherein the chamber includes a plurality of partitions for directing flow of liquid from one portion of the chamber to another portion of the chamber. Preferably, at least one partition is a gating means responsive to a differential in liquid-pressure for enabling the flow of liquid to the chamber portion of lower liquid pressure. The cushioning element overlays the sole portion. A portion of the cushioning element extends to a peripheral edge to provide cushioning support to a foot of a wearer at the peripheral edge. Preferably the extending portion of the element has substantially transparent walls, whereby the liquid composition can be viewed.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1994Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: Asics CorporationInventors: Barry Bates, Al Gross

Patent number: 5487395Abstract: A limb supporter apparatus supports a patient's elbow on support pegs that extend under the condyles of the humerus bone for positioning the ulna bone for bone testing. The ulna extends over the humerus and is positioned close to the skin for testing. The wrist is supported in the apparatus of the present invention between two vertical support pegs to secure the wrist in a vertical position and to prevent radial movement of the wrist. This apparatus properly positions the ulna above the humerus and allows for consistent, reproducible results during testing performed on a bone. The elbow and wrist supports extend from horizontal members which are supported by vertical support members. The vertical support members are positioned on a horizontal support member which is pivotally connected to a base member. The base member may be secured to a table by attachment bolts.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1995Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Assignee: Gait Scan, Inc.Inventor: Robert J. Strowe

Patent number: 5446705Abstract: A time indicator is provided that changes color or produces an image or information after a specific time interval. The time indicator includes a base substrate with colored dye deposited on a first surface; and a substrate having an adhesive on a first surface thereof, the adhesive positioned at discrete locations on the first surface of the substrate. The substrate and the base substrate are put into adhesive contact. The adhesive contacts and coacts the colored dye to dissolve the dye and permit the dye to migrate through the adhesive to cause a color change visible through the substrate. The discrete adhesive inhibits lateral migration of the dye to preserve the image or information of the dye in a clear and/or understandable condition.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1994Date of Patent: August 29, 1995Assignee: Temtec, Inc.Inventors: David J.
