Abstract: A vehicle or other type mirror having a convex reflective surface is surrounded by an opaque or non-reflective band. The opaque band extends from the reflective surface to a mounting flange. The mounting flange is adapted to seat on a mounting frame. A gasket secures the mounting frame and the mounting flange together. The mirror is mounted to a vehicle by suitable mounting members. The mirror permits the entire reflective surface to be available for viewing without interference from the gasket or mounting frame.

Abstract: A sprayable coating composition is formulated using one or more acrylates and one or more photoinitiators which act to polymerize the composition when exposed to ultraviolet light. Because of the use of low molecular weight monomers or oligomers, the composition is essentially free of volatile organic solvents, and therefore evaporative emissions in curing are substantially eliminated.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a bottle top cutting device which includes a base and a housing. The housing has an aperture formed therein, the aperture configured to allow the passage of a bottle tip thereinto while precluding insertion of a finger. A razor is housed in the housing and is positioned such that as the bottle tip is slid in the aperture towards the razor, the tip is cut off of the bottle.
Abstract: A device for storage retrieval of personal information relating to a deceased person is so designed that a cemetery contains an electronic storage device with the personal information, and in that a transmitter/receiver device connected to the storage device is disposed in a recess in the gravestone of the deceased person, by means of which the information stored in the storage device may be called up. For this purpose the transmitter/receiver device may be designed for "wireless" communication with a portable communications apparatus. The communications apparatus includes a memory for recording information called up from the storage device.
Abstract: A footing connector and a method for use thereof. The connector is preferably T-shaped and includes integrally formed end caps which may be used to prevent cement or the like from entering into the connector. The connector is used in a drainage network to drain water away form the outside of a building and to evacuate unwanted gasses from the inside of a building.
Abstract: A method of surface coating a substrate made of metal or ceramic having a three dimensional configuration such as tools, dies or machinery parts, with a surface reinforcing film with good adhesion, at low temperature, in which at least one deposition film is formed on the surface of the substrate by a plasma vapor deposition CVD process, wherein the deposition film comprises:a multi-layered film comprising one or more of TiAlN film (18a) and a film other than TiAlN having a composition in which the total amount of Ti, Al and N is from 50 to 100 at % and in which the uppermost layer as a surface reinforcing film comprises a TiAlN film, ora multi-layered film comprising two or more of TiAlN films having a composition in which the total amount of Ti, Al and N is from 50 to 100 at % and in which the contents of two or more of elements among Ti, Al and N are in a gradient composition.
Abstract: A system for three-dimensional position sensing including a target station, a reference station and a means for accurately calculating the position of the target station relative to the reference station. The system includes the use of at least one gyroscope and a computer to determine the position of the target station. Such a system may be used in land surveying, earth grading machinery position sensing, marine navigation and coordinate measuring.
Abstract: A bicycle seat assembly to be mounted to a childrens bicycle. The assembly includes a seat which is mountable upon a bracket. The bracket, in turn, is mounted to the seat post of a bicycle, so that the seat is effectively mounted to the bicycle. Additionally, a second bracket, engageable with the first bracket and the bicycle, may be included to provide additional stability of the bicycle seat assembly.
Abstract: A pre-formed rigid ceramic thermal insulating heat conservation cover is placed over and fitted into the opening of a hot liquid metal transfer car. The cover reduces thermal loss from the liquid metal by a non-metallic middle sheet encapsulated by an upper metallic sheet and a lower metallic sheet. The middle sheet is formed of fused ceramic and silica sand.
Abstract: A gripping device for horse's hooves. The novel device, in general, prevents the horse's hoof from winging in or paddling out in order that the hoof travels in a straight line, and, in addition, spreads shock evenly upon striking the contacting surface and taking pressure off the wall of the hoof. The gripping device has a flat top surface which faces towards a horse's hoof and a bottom surface opposite the top surface, the bottom surface having a raised portion for improved gripping, the device being positioned centrally with respect to the horse's hoof.

Abstract: A device for stabilizing footing drainage conduits while forming the footings including an annular disk and a cylindrical hub extending outwardly from and about the opening. A drain tile or conduit is engaged with the device about the hub while the device is secured to the footing form. The annular disk extends normal to the cylindrical hub. The device is adjusted to abut the form for the building footings. Accordingly, the devices are positioned and attached to the forms. The device provides support and prevents crushing of an end of the conduit when concrete is poured between the form boards when the footings are created. A nub on the cylindrical hub prevents lateral movement of the device when the footing forms are removed. An adjustable drainage tile can also be used. Two sections of conduit are employed for the adjustable drainage tile. One end of one of the sections of conduit has axially extending slits to allow interengagement of the end of the one section of conduit into the second conduit.
Abstract: Water treatment apparatus includes a two-piece housing and a stack of discrete filtering layers disposed within the housing including a layer of silver impregnated carbon, a layer of pentavalent iodine impregnated resins and at least one layer of a mixed bed activated resin. The apparatus is designed so that no water pressure need be applied to force the water through the apparatus, as gravity pulls the water down through the filtering layers.
Abstract: A food-grade corrosion inhibitor for admixture with a food-grade petroleum-based oil is derived from an admixture of food-grade components. The corrosion inhibitor, a food-grade ketone, a food-grade ester and imidazoline. The additive is incorporated into a lubricating component such as mineral oil, etc.
Abstract: A muzzle brake for a rifle or firearm serves to dissipate the forces generated by the weapon during firing which, if not dissipated, could affect the intended trajectory of the projectile. The present muzzle brake is a cylindrical member having a plurality of slots formed therein. The slots permit the egress of the gases formed during firing. The slots are formed in an arrangement such that the gases are equally dispelled in all directions. The cylindrical member may be formed such that the diameter thereof lessens.

Abstract: A swimming training device may be part of an overall training system. The device is deployable releasably in a swimming cap and can receive electromagnetic wave signals. The device can then convert the signals into electrical charges which are then translated into audible sound. The system includes the cap with the receiving device and a transmitting source. The transmitting source allows the broadcasting of verbal instructions, as well as music and timing signals.
Abstract: A corrosion inhibiting primer for metal pieces which need not be removed prior to welding the pieces includes an alkali metal silicate binder having a silicone wetting agent incorporated therewith, a powder metal and an oxygen scavenger. The primer can be sprayed onto the metal. Zero porosity welds can be achieved up to speeds of about 750 mms/sec. by welding through the primer.
