  • Patent number: 7817116
Abstract: A TFT for controlling the amount of current flowing into a power supply line when an EL element does not emit light (electric discharge TFT) is provided in each pixel. When an EL driving TFT is turned ON to make an EL element emit light, the electric discharge TFT is turned OFF. On the other hand, the electric discharge TFT is turned ON when the EL driving TFT is turned OFF and no EL element emit light. Therefore variation of the difference in electric potential over the length of a power supply line depending on an image to be displayed is contained. Thus reduced is the difference in amount of current flowing into EL elements in adjacent pixels while the EL elements emit light, thereby avoiding crosstalk.

  • Patent number: 7817499
Abstract: A system for indicating an end of a life cycle time period for a device which may include a sensor device or detector for measuring an environmental condition. A control device communicates with the device and includes a programmable timing mechanism for measuring a life cycle time period. The control device initiates an end of life cycle indicator such as a fault message after the life cycle time period has elapsed. The life cycle time period may be measured from a date of manufacture of the device. The life cycle time period may also be measured from a date of installation of the device when the date of manufacture of the sensor device is unknown. In the case of sensor devices or detectors an environmental condition for measuring by the detector may include carbon monoxide levels in an enclosed area where the device is a respective carbon monoxide detector.

  • Patent number: 7812855
Abstract: A glass break detector is provided with microphones for detecting glass breaking, and microphones for detecting noise, and generating a noise output once a noise is detected. The noise output triggers a video camera to record in the area of the glass break detector. Also, a security apparatus is provided, having a video dome, a video camera provided in the video dome, and one or more microphones provided on an outside surface of the video dome. If a noise is detected by the one or more microphones, the video camera points to a direction of the noise by determining the time of arrival of the noise, and the camera begins to record.

  • Patent number: 7813738
Abstract: A method for communication includes deploying a plurality of access points, which have respective coverage areas and are configured to operate on a common frequency channel, in a service region of a wireless local area network (WLAN), so that the coverage areas of the access points overlap. A first access point is selected to transmit downlink signals to a station in the service region of the WLAN at a certain downlink data rate. The station is instructed to transmit uplink signals at an uplink data rate that is less than the downlink data rate, so that the uplink signals can be received and decoded by both the first and second access points.
