Abstract: A mobile communication device that flexibly supports various services which utilize both Internet communications and short-distance wireless communications. An instruction data receiving section receives instruction data indicating a protocol in which a set of data exchanges are to be performed. An instruction data analysis section analyzes the received instruction data, and controls a reception switching section and a transmission switching section based on a result of the analysis. The reception switching section receives data from either an Internet reception section or a short-distance wireless reception section under the control of the instruction data analysis section. The transmission switching section outputs data to either an Internet transmission section or a short-distance wireless transmission section under the control of the instruction data analysis section.

Abstract: Disclosed is a disk player using a single motor in common for driving a disk tray and optical pickup. A controlled reciprocation of the disk tray and the data-reproducing operation subsequent to withdrawal of the disk tray into the housing can be performed by an “L”-shaped guide slot made in the disk tray, a cam rod operatively connected to the “L”-shaped guide slot, and a drive switching gear assembly operatively connected to the cam rod and a first train of gears for driving the disk tray. All of these parts work together so that the single drive motor may switch and drive the first train of gears for driving the disk tray or a second train of gears for the optical pickup.
Abstract: A lash adjuster in a valve actuator includes a lifter body having an end plate having its top surface in contact with a cam and formed with a threaded hole in its bottom surface. An adjuster screw is inserted in the threaded hole with its external thread in engagement with the internal thread of the threaded hole. An elastic member is mounted in the threaded hole over the adjuster screw to bias the adjuster screw axially downward. Both of the threads have a sawtooth-shaped section with its pressure flank having a greater flank angle than its clearance flank. One of the pressure flanks is formed with a satin-finished rugged surface which is covered by a hard film which is non-reactive with a low-friction oil. With this arrangement, even after the threads have become worn, the friction coefficient between the thread surfaces is kept substantially constant.
Abstract: A ship has a main propeller 2 which can move the ship forward and reverse by normal rotation, reverse rotation or by changing the pitch angle. A drive unit drives the main propeller 2. A rudder 3 changes the course of the ship. At least one pod propulsion unit 10A, 10B is provided. As a result, the support mechanism and the turning mechanism of the pod propulsion unit, arranged separate from the main propeller, can be simplified and cost can be reduced.
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to materialize a small size wound-rotor transformer in a simple structure, wherein the primary winding 32 is mounted on the central portion of the bobbin (insulator) 2, and the first and second secondary windings 39, 41 are mounted at both sides of the primary winding 32. Abstract: The invention discloses a novel method for the preparation of a 2-keto carboxylic acid from carbon dioxide by an enzymatic addition reaction with an aldehyde compound. Carbon dioxide, which can be in the form of carbonate ions, is reacted with an aldehyde compound such as acetaldehyde and propionaldehyde under mild reaction conditions in the presence of a decarboxylase to give a 2-keto carboxylic acid such as pyruvic and a 2-ketobutyric acid by a reverse reaction to the enzymatic decarboxylation reaction. The scope of the invention involves contribution to a solution of the environmental problem of global warming due to carbon dioxide as a greenhouse effect gas in the aerospace.

Abstract: A coil component includes a coil 2 having a through-hole 1, a magnetic core encapsulating the coil, and a terminal 4. The magnetic core includes a top portion 11 disposed at an upper part of the coil, a bottom portion 12 disposed at a lower part of the coil, and a middle portion 13. An outer layer thickness of the middle portion (W1) is less than a diameter of the through-hole, while the top portion and the bottom portion are higher in density than the middle portion. The configuration of the present invention provides a small size coil component with less occurrence of magnetic saturation to prevent lowering of inductance even with thin top 11 and bottom portions 11, 12. The coil component further has improved reliability.

Abstract: In photodynamic diagnosis and photodynamic therapy, the oscillating wavelength of laser light from a light source is fitted to a plurality of different kinds of photosensitizers and exciting conditions thereof. Abstract: A lens element 1 is formed by making use of an optical substrate, and includes a lens portion 2, an edge portion 6 in the form of a circular arc provided along the circumference of the lens portion 2, and handling portion 4 which is integrated with the lens portion 2 and the edge portion 6 as well and extends with a width wider than that of the lens portion 2. Abstract: A terminal determines a target value of stream data to be stored in its buffer in relation to its buffer capacity and the transmission capacity of the network. Also, the terminal arbitrarily determines a delay time from when the terminal writes a head data of the stream data to the buffer to when the terminal reads the data to start playback in a range not exceeding a value obtained by dividing the buffer capacity by the transmission capacity. The target value and the delay time are then both notified to a server. Based on those notified values, the server controls the transmission speed so that the buffer occupancy of the terminal changes in the vicinity of the target value without exceeding the target value.

Abstract: A reprocessing process of spent nuclear fuels for roughly separating U and U—Pu from FP, TRU and the like in a nitric acid solution of spent nuclear fuels by utilizing phenomenon of cocrystallization of hexavalent U and Pu. For example, spent nuclear fuels are sheared and dissolved in nitric acid, and insoluble residues in the nitric acid solution are removed. Then, a nitric acid concentration in the solution is adjusted and a valence of Pu in the solution is adjusted to tetravalence. The solution is then cooled to crystallize uranyl nitrate hydrate crystals and separated into the crystals and a mother liquor, and the separated crystals are recovered as a U product. Then, a nitric acid concentration in the separated mother liquor is adjusted and a valance of U and Pu in the mother liquor is adjusted to hexavalence, and the mother liquor is cooled to crystallize uranyl-plutonyl nitrate hydrate crystals which are separated and recovered as a U—Pu mixed product.

Abstract: The present invention uses a CDMA base transceiver system that performs wireless communications through the use of a CDMA method. The invention thereby copes with a plurality of communication methods, through the use of that system, through an efficient construction of the system, simply by changing the software even if making no changes of, for example, the hardware. For example, a base band part is constructed by using an FPGA for processing a chip-rate signal through FPGA program data and a DSP for processing a symbol-rate signal through DSP program data. Through the use of program data setting means, it is possible to change the FPGA program data used by the FPGA and the DSP program data used by the DSP to program data that corresponds to a different type of communication method.
Abstract: An optical disc includes a processed area that has been processed by the irradiation of a YAG laser. Concave pits and convex pits having a length 3T–14T (T=0.133 ?m) are formed in an area of the optical disc other than the processed area. The processed area includes (1) a concave pit having a length X or (2) a pit string that has a length X and includes a convex pit from which a reflection layer has been removed. A specific area of the optical disc records physical character information that shows the location and length of the concave pit or the pit string in the processed area.
