  • Patent number: 4133249
Abstract: For resizing an ammunition cartridge casing, an expandable and contractible collet is surrounded by an axially movable internally tapered sleeve. An axially movable headed shaft for supporting a cartridge casing from its flanged end is in the collet. Shifting the sleeve in one direction opens the collet and simultaneous retraction of the shaft lets the cartridge casing drop into the collet. Shifting the sleeve in the opposite direction causes the collet to contract and resize the cylindrical casing and its flange. Returning the sleeve to its initial position allows the collet to expand and simultaneous elevation of the shaft lifts the resized casing up to the top of a work table in position to be removed by hand or to be moved to a new work station for performance of other steps connected with cartridge reloading if the resizer is built into a reloading device.

  • Patent number: 4133407
Abstract: A manually controlled set-speed-selector on the speedometer of a vehicle causes a pair of normally open electrical contacts to close when the speedometer indicator needle reaches the set point. This actuates a solenoid valve which applies intake manifold vacuum to an accelerator actuator to pull on a chain connected to the accelerator, thereby decelerating the vehicle. A vacuum relief valve enables the driver to over-ride the decelerating action for passing or emergency purposes. The flexibility of the chain enables the driver to slow down at any time by simply releasing foot pressure on the accelerator. One electrical contact is connected to the speedometer indicator needle by a torsion spring, which allows the contacts to chatter as they close due to vehicle vibration. The on time of the chattering contacts increases as the set speed is exceeded and reaches 100% at a predetermined overspeed value.

  • Patent number: 4114854
Abstract: A lift with a work platform supported by a scissors linkage on a base includes a single hydraulic cylinder for elevating the linkage. The cylinder is connected between a lower link and a swing arm which is pivotally connected to the linkage. During a first lifting stage the swing arm bears against a cam surface on the uppermost link to cause an initial unfolding action of the upper links. Prior to the arm leaving the cam surface, the arm bears against an abutment on one of the lower links for a second lifting stage to cause unfolding of the linkage from the bottom. This arrangement provides a strong, smooth unfolding of the linkage. The base is provided with outriggers which can be folded against the sides of the base when not in use and which are pivoted to a transverse position for use. Links connecting the outriggers to a guide track enable positive locking of the outriggers in the operative position.

  • Patent number: 4108387
Abstract: A hollow pin set in the downstream end of the auger of a conventional food grinder has a downstream end which protrudes to an accessible outside area of the grinder and a downstream - facing shoulder which bears against the upstream side of the knife assembly of said grinder, biasing said knife against a perforated plate. An inside pin or bolt passes through the hollow pin, threadably connected therewith, and has a downstream end which protrudes from the hollow pin and which is adapted to receive a wrench. The upstream end of said inside pin or bolt presses against a compression spring. Applying a wrench to rotate the downstream end of said inside pin or bolt changes the compression of the spring and thereby increases or decreases the bias between said knife assembly and the perforated plate which the knife is biased against.

  • Patent number: 4106117
Abstract: A mixing bowl having an outwardly flared inner surface is rotated around its axis at a speed which is great enough to cause a film of liquid within the bowl to be moved upwardly by centrifugal force to the rim of the bowl. A liquid is introduced into the bottom of the bowl at a rate that permits an unbroken film of liquid to form within the bowl and move from the bottom to the rim. Particulate material is uniformly distributed in a radial direction within the bowl to contact the liquid film and mix therewith. The rim of the bowl is shaped to interact with an adjacent stationary surface to shear the liquid and particulate material mixture to increase the uniformity of the mixture. A basin is positioned around and under the rim of the mixing bowl to collect the mixture as it is thrown off the outer edge of the rim.
