  • Patent number: 7519506
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring and managing electrical power transmission and distribution networks through use of a deterministic, non-iterative method using an holomorphic embedding and algebraic approximants for determining the real-time load flow in a power generating system having an electrical grid. Such method may be employed for real-time or off-line applications for electric power systems reliability assessment, and is capable of determining whether or not a physical solution to the load flow problem exists, or if the system is in a state of voltage collapse.

  • Patent number: 7503890
Abstract: A collapsible patient isolation pod for preventing flow of contaminants to or from a patient is disclosed. The isolation pod is preferably fabricated at least partially from a transparent, biochemically resistive material and includes a flexible enclosure that is configurable to receive a contaminated patient therein. The top is maintained spaced apart from the bottom such that the top is maintained out of physical contact with a contaminated patient received in the enclosure. The isolation pod has a plurality of wide, gloved access points to allow easy, multiple access points to a patient. A central connection manifold for oxygen, intravenous connections, or other fluids, may optionally be provided. Ventilation is provided within the isolation chamber with a negative pressure ventilation system and filtration on the air input near the patient's head, and provides filtration on output near the patient's feet.

  • Patent number: 7458390
Abstract: The present invention relates to a breath controlled air inlet valve for controlling a flow of air supplied to a wearer of a facemask, the valve permitting the flow of air when a wearer breathes in and restricting the flow of air when the wearer breathes out. The valve includes an inlet, an outlet, one or more pivotable shutters, and a shutter articulating mechanism for articulating the one or more shutters between an open state and a closed state. The shutter articulation mechanism actuates in response to the respiration of the wearer. The valve also enables a positive pressure to be maintained within the facemask by permitting an amount of air to flow around the one or more shutters when the one or more shutters are in the closed state.

  • Patent number: 7439510
Abstract: A hand-held, fleet deployable infrared camera with integrated hardware and software providing real time processing of infrared images. The camera senses variable temperature images over a selected object of interest and senses variable emissivities over the object. The camera also measures and corrects for reflected environmental radiation as well as corrections for the atmospheric path through which the object is viewed. A calibrated reference patch having known emissivity and reflectance is attached to an object of interest and viewed through the camera. The calibrated patch is used to provide correction for the environmental radiation reflected off the object. Once the environmental radiation correction is known, it can be used to correct measurements taken from the rest of the object of interest.

  • Patent number: 7434440
Abstract: A heavy-duty hose clamp installation tool is described. A pair of lever arms operates a pair of jaw members to engage a pinch clamp ear. The installation tool includes a pair of jaw members with clamp edges forming a lip for receiving the clamp ears. A pair of extension arms connects the jaw members to a pair of lever arms. The extension arms are pivotally interconnected intermediate the jaw member section so that closing the handle ends of the lever arms translates the jaw members towards a closed position thereof, thus squeezing the clamp ear. Once the ear of the clamp is crimped, an auxiliary form punch is used to flatten the ear, resulting in a tighter clamp configuration.

  • Patent number: 7404705
Abstract: A blending pump assembly for accurately maintaining the proper ratio of two fluid components. Flow of a first fluid is utilized to drive a fluid motor, which in turn drives a pumping mechanism to inject a proportional amount of a second fluid into the flow of the first fluid. The fluid motor and pump are sized so that a predetermined ratio between the two fluids is maintained regardless of changes in pressure and flow rate of such first fluid.

  • Patent number: 7397233
Abstract: A device for measuring alternating voltage in a conductor under test using a first set of capacitive voltage sensors 32a-f mounted on an electrically insulating support member. The sensors are disposed on the support member at spaced intervals along a first notional circle and are connected in parallel between an inner signal conductor 33 and a zero voltage reference conductor 37. A second set of capacitive voltage sensors 34a-f are mounted on the support member at spaced intervals along a second notional circle and are connected in parallel between an outer signal conductor 35 and the reference conductor 37. The support member is configured to allow a conductor under test 38 to be introduced into the interior of the device so that the sensors surround the axis of the conductor. Each sensor has a signal electrode 48 connected to the signal conductor and a reference electrode 50 connected to the reference conductor and is orientated with the signal electrode facing the conductor under test.

  • Patent number: 7367263
Abstract: A modular fountain assembly for controlling the temperature and flow of viscous fluid with a melting point between ambient and approximately 150 degrees Fahrenheit is disclosed. The modular assembly for controlling the heating and flow of fluid includes an enclosed controlling base and an upper recirculation module having a detachable lower basin, one or more modular tubular sections, a small high basin on top of the highest tubular section, an Archimedes screw of a set pitch dimension to facilitate the flow of the fluid from the lower reservoir to the small high reservoir atop the tubular section or sections, and a series of circular tiers atop each tubular section. The lower basin is attached to the controlling base using mechanical or electro mechanical support structures. The controlling base provides rotational force for the Archimedes screw at variable rotational speeds to drive the fluid upward within the modular tubes as well as a heating sub module.
