  • Patent number: 8329797
Abstract: Power cables that comprise a sheath layer, e.g., an insulation layer, are produced from a mixture of a high pressure polyolefin free of silane functionality, e.g., high pressure low density polyethylene, and a polyether polyol of which at least 50 percent of its molecules comprise no more than a single hydroxyl functionality. Preferably, the power cable is a medium or high voltage power cable, and the polyolefin is crosslinked as the sheath layer is fabricated and/or subsequent to the fabrication of the sheath layer.

  • Patent number: 8324327
Abstract: A process for polymerizing one or more olefins in a gas-phase polymerization reactor is provided. The gas-phase reactor has a fluidized bed and a fluidizing medium. The fluidizing medium has an operating density and an operating velocity. The process includes determining a critical gas velocity and/or determining a critical gas velocity for the polymerization. The operating gas density and/or the operating gas velocity for the fluidizing medium is then adjusted to be less than or equal to its respective critical value. The process includes increasing the bulk density of the fluidized bed. The increase in the fluidized bed bulk density increases productivity without increasing reactor residence time.

  • Patent number: 8318864
Abstract: The invention relates to functionalized interpolymers derived from base olefin interpolymers, which are prepared by polymerizing one or more monomers or mixtures of monomers, such as ethylene and one or more comonomers, to form an interpolymer products having unique physical properties. The functionalized olefin interpolymers contain two or more differing regions or segments (blocks), resulting in unique processing and physical properties.

  • Patent number: 8312912
Abstract: A sunshade assembly includes a housing having a top opening, a winding shaft mounted rotatably in the housing, a sunshade cloth wound around the winding shaft, a pull rod disposed outside the top opening, a frame body disposed below the housing, a gear rack mounted to the frame body and having a top end connected to the pull rod, and a clutch unit meshing with the gear rack and including a pusher that is operable to place the clutch unit in a non-clutching position, where the gear rack is freely movable to permit the sunshade cloth to be wound by the winding shaft, or a clutching position, where the clutch unit applies a retarding force to retard a movement of the gear rack, which prevents the winding shaft from winding the sunshade cloth but permits the pull rod to pull and stop the sunshade cloth at a desired position.

  • Patent number: 8314191
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an apparatus and process for producing a catalyst composition and a low-fines catalyst composition in particular. A crossflow classification device is used to separate large catalyst particles from catalyst fines. A slurry of a catalyst composition is introduced into the crossflow classification device. A classified catalyst composition is retrieved from a retentate produced as a result of subjecting the catalyst slurry to a crossflow classification process. The solids content of the pre-classified and/or post-classified catalyst slurry is determined by way of NMR spectroscopy. The solids content determination accounts for migration of wash liquid from the catalyst composition and into the slurry liquid phase. The classified catalyst composition has a low-fines content and produces a polyolefin composition with a low polymer fines content.

  • Patent number: 8312858
Abstract: A lubrication system and method are disclosed. The system includes a main engine bearing and a crankshaft in operational association with the bearing. The crankshaft includes an end having a cavity with a power transmitting element (e.g., splines). The cavity can receive and engage a mating mechanism to transmit power thereto. The crankshaft further includes a first oil passage that is disposed within the end and a second oil passage that extends from the main engine bearing into the crankshaft. The first oil passage intersects the second oil passage. The system can also include a pump mechanism for circulating lubricating oil from the main engine bearing to the crankshaft through the second oil passage and the first oil passage, and to the cavity to lubricate the power transmitting element. During engine operation, a constant supply of lubricating oil can be provided to the power transmitting element to reduce component wear.
