  • Patent number: 5683764
Abstract: An insulating glass including at least two window panes (20, 21), which are placed at a distance from one another and encompass a sound absorber made of open-celled material, in particular made of sintered or foamed aluminum. The sound absorber increases the flow resistance of the gas enclosed between the plates, made of a mechanically rigid material, and serves as a spacer (28). The insulating glass is especially suited for vehicle construction.

  • Patent number: 5682657
Abstract: A pneumatic marking tool (35,123) is attached to one of the punch mounting holes (9) of the upper turret disk (3) of a punch press. When the punching striker (13) is moved down to its lower dead point, compressed air is supplied from a compressed air supply unit (103) to the marking tool to move the marking stylus (49, 129) up and down repeatedly at a high speed. At the same time, the work (W) is moved in a two-dimensional way by the Y- and X-axis work driving mechanisms (27, 29) of the punch press, in synchronism with the repetitive marking stylus motion, to engrave characters and/or symbols as a form of gathered dots all under control of the numerical control unit (33). Therefore, it is possible to mark or engrave any required characters and/or symbols without occupying a number of punch mounting stations of the upper turret disk and without the use of any punch press of high punching frequency, thus eliminating the laborious setting work required whenever the plate thickness of the work changes.

  • Patent number: 5683023
Abstract: In a method of separating a product G connected to a skeleton portion S of work W via a micro joint M, from the skeleton portion, the product is separated from the skeleton portion by striking the skeleton portion in the vicinity of the micro joint to cut off the micro joint from the skeleton. Further, the die pair used for the above-mentioned method comprises a punch 17A provided with a projecting portion 17T at an end thereof and movable up and down; and a die 19A arranged under the punch and formed of an elastic substance. In this method, it is possible to separate products from the skeleton portion of the work efficiently by breaking the micro joints without scratching the products and without generating noise. Further, the separating work of the products from the skeleton portion can be easily automated.

  • Patent number: 5679955
Abstract: A method and apparatus serve to determine spectroscopically a concentration of ethanol in a test sample of an alcoholic aqueous beverage. The determination is based upon providing calibration data which establish a relation between(A) a plurality of transmission values of an electromagnetic radiation in the near infrared region, measured at a unique wavelength at which water is relatively opaque to the radiation while ethanol is relatively transparent thereto, of a plurality of calibration samples of the beverage containing ethanol in differing known concentrations, and(B) the known concentrations of ethanol in the calibration samples. Then, at least one light transmission value of the test sample at the unique wavelength, at which said calibration data were established, is measured. The measured transmission value of the test sample is transformed, by way of the relation established by the calibration data, into an indication of the concentration of ethanol in the test sample.

  • Patent number: 5672068
Abstract: A connecting structure in which a male connector can be fitted into a female connector by operating a joint lever is provided. The joint lever is rotatably attached to either the male connector or the female connector. The connecting structure further includes projections to be inserted into the guide grooves and a fit detecting member for detecting the fitting condition between the male connector and the female connector. In fitting the male connector into the female connector, the fit detecting member is released from its engaged condition in the temporary engagement position by rotation of the joint lever. In the case where the fit detecting member is engaged in the formal engagement position, the fit detecting member operates to prevent the joint lever from being rotated.

  • Patent number: 5672922
Abstract: In a non-commutating-pole commutator motor, in particular as the drive of a power hand tool, a device for reversing the direction of rotation includes a switch (8) for reversing the direction of current in the rotor winding, and a brush apparatus (4) mounted immovably in the motor casing. The rotation of the plane defined by the commutating coils is chosen in such a manner that good commutation is assured in one of the two directions of rotation at full motor output. Furthermore, the switch (8) for reversing the direction of rotation yields the preferred direction of rotation in a first switch position and the opposite direction in a second switch position. In the switch position for the preferred direction, a smaller number of turns of the field winding (1, 2) in the electric circuit of the motor is effectively provided while, in the opposite direction of rotation of the motor, a larger number of turns is effectively provided.

  • Patent number: 5658101
Abstract: An improved milling head. A milling head is provided with a backing plate with a toothed system on the from side, whose teeth run in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the carrier body. Because the blade plate has a toothed system, which can be engaged with the toothed system on the front of the support plate, the blade plate no longer needs to be shifted radially outward to be resharpened. Rather the blade plate must only be radially displaced to the outside by a tooth of a micro-toothed system. This simplifies the regrinding on a constant flight circle diameter, because only the hard metal of the blade plate needs to be ground, which can be accomplished with a normal hard metal grinding wheel. The support plate only needs to be shaped when it is manufactured, which is possible with a normal corundum disk and can be accomplished quickly. Since the support plate does not need to be reground, it remains completely functional and can be used together with a new blade plate.
