Abstract: Method of and apparatus for washing and cleaning membranes of a plurality of membrane filtration units aligned in series, each unit being part of a circuit provided with a recirculation pump, each circuit being provided with an inlet and an outlet. Washing liquid is supplied to the circuits in an amount exceeding the predetermined capacity of the recirculation pump.

Abstract: Method for installing a sealing body in a groove of a socket by forming a closed space in the inner side of the socket. Said closed space is bound by an inner core and an inflatable core being connected with each other by a connecting wall part and is filled with a flowable thermoplastic elastomer through an opening in the wall of the groove. After setting of the thermoplastic elastomer, the two cores are removed.

Abstract: Coloring composition for coloring thermoplastic polymers obtained by solidifying a liquid mixture of coloring pigments and an ester of phtalic acid and an alcohol. The composition contains at least 40% of pigments and at most 60% of an ester of phtalic acid and an alcohol comprising 12 to 16 carbon atoms.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method and apparatus for reducing eddy currents in a clarifier to restrict sludge from entering the clear water zone of the clarifier by periodically pulsing air to the sludge return line from the bottom of the clarifier to the top of the aeration chamber in a sewage treatment plant of both the land base and marine type.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a sewage treatment device of the marine type and operates on an extended aeration principle employing an aerator, clarifier and disinfector. The clarifier is disposed beneath the aerator and the top of the clarifier with a common wall therebetween which forms the bottom of the aerator. A first passage conducts fluid from the aerator to the clarifier and has a central port in the common wall. A second passage conducts fluid from the clarifier to the disinfector. The aerator has an influent inlet and the disinfector has an effluent outlet.The treator includes in the aerator vessel nozzle means for admitting air to the vessel in a direction to cause fluid in the vessel to move orbitally about a vertical axis with the nozzle means being disposed at a level proximate the common wall between the aerator and clarifier.

Abstract: A crate 1 for bottles with cylindrical body portions has double-skinned corner portions 7 which define with portions 13 of an internal partitioning grid 5 corner compartments 6a for bottles. The inner skin 12 of the corner portion is formed with vertical ribs 14 adjacent the grid portions 13. These ribs, which are interconnected with the outer skin 8 of the corner portion to form hollow columns 14a therewith, strength the corner portions and allow the spacing of the skins thereof to be reduced so that the size of the compartment can be increased for given external crate dimensions, and as the ribs are located adjacent the partitioning portions 13 they occupy space which would otherwise be free and do not reduce the effective size of the corner compartments.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a ground-leveling and separating device for use with a front end loader having a loader bucket. The device has a blade backing trowel member having a pair of end walls and an upstanding rear wall defining an open ended box-like structure with a rod extending across the top of its open end. A pair of transversely spaced dividers having front to rear openings lie between the end walls and an attaching means has one end adapted to be connected to the rear of the front end loader bucket and the other end connected to the rear of said device, and an attaching means is connected proximate the forward end of the device at each of its ends and is adapted to be passed over said front bar at its other end and passing freely through the openings in said spaced dividers so that said ground-leveling and separating device could be selectively angularly oriented relative to said bucket and line of draft.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide an individual setting for displaying finger rings similar to finger ring boxes but which prohibits unauthorized withdrawal of the ring from the display.The finger ring supports are wedge-shaped and are secured to a main support surface. Each wedge-shaped support has a transverse slot to receive the closed loop portion of a finger ring and a bore from the base side of the wedge extending beyond the transverse slot slidably accommodates a magnetically attractable ring locking member which passes through the closed looped portion of the finger ring and the ring locking means can only be removed from the bore by a magnet, the ring not being removable from the support without a magnet and the point to place the magnet not being visible by the observer or prospective purchaser.

Abstract: A gutter fitting 1 comprises a body member 2 defining a channel for receiving a gutter length. A sealing member 6 extends through a slot 7 in the body member and has a sealing portion 10 for sealing against the gutter length and a retaining portion 11 which extends transversely of the slot 7 and is clamped in a passage 12 between the body member 2 and a clip 13 which snap fits over the opposite longitudinal edges--one edge 8 only shown--of the channel to clamp the gutter length in the channel. The sealing member is thereby adequately retained in the fitting against displacement.

Abstract: This invention is directed to introducing a catheter tube into a vein over a vein puncture needle once vein puncture has been established by providing an upstanding flat drive plate secured to the hub of a catheter tube with its major axis transverse to the axis of the needle and catheter so a quick striking force may be thrust upon the plate to force the catheter into the vein over the vein puncture needle.The potential energy of a compressed coiled spring or a resilient plastic member may supply the thrust energy to drive the upstanding flat drive plate and its entrained catheter tube forwardly over the vein puncture needle.

Abstract: A cage construction for use in breeding fur-bearing animals such as mink, comprises a plurality of cages arranged on a stand, whereby each cage is provided with a breeding coop with an opening giving access to the cage. Each breeding coop is formed by a vertical plastic pipe open at both ends and having a substantially rectangular cross section, the pipe wall being formed by a central foam plastic layer and an outer and an inner solid surface layer. These layers are integrally connected.

Abstract: The disclosure herein in directed to aligning devices for aligning a towing vehicle with a trailer wherein the towing vehicle has a ball and the trailer vehicle a socket carrying arm. A pair of magnetic bases having vertically positionable wands are placed one on the towing vehicle and one on the trailer. Each wand has an elastic gromet slidable along its length for retaining a signal flag on its upper side and to permit passage between the wand and the gromet of a plumb line. There are two plumb lines and two plumb bobs which when the lines are vertical and the two plumb bobs positioned immediately above the ball and the trailer socket, the alignment flags will be horizontal so that when the vehicle is backed toward the trailer unit the flags cross then hookup can be effectuated.

Abstract: The invention encourages optimal exercise, particularly of the aerobic type, for cardiovascular fitness. The user powers an exerciser, such as a treadmill, simulated cycling or rowing, and the like, and a monitor displays the users speed and distance accomplished. A variable speed outdoor exercising scene (such as a person rowing a boat) is shown to the user when the monitor is a TV set. The users speed signal controls the speed of a videotape cassette player to proportionately change the speed of the outdoor exercising scene. The speed signal is converted to the reciprocal of speed i.e., minutes per mile and the distance is displayed to hundredths of miles. The latter two signals are converted to BCD digits and superimposed on the video through a TV positioning and generation circuit for display on the scene. The heart beat is picked up electrically or by infra red and converted into three digits of beats per minute, and also superimposed on the video for display on the monitor.

Abstract: A sludge distribution plant which receives a plurality of trucks either simultaneously or singly which bring in dried sludge in granular form and effluent both of which are separated between origin pickup and the distribution plant as shown in U.S. Pat. 4,046,689. At the plant site there are means for discharging the dry granular material containing debris into a sieve type shaker arranged over a conveyor belt both of which are on an angle of delination from the truck toward a central collector and conveyor system positioned to receive the non-liquid discharge contents of a plurality of trucks and which will separate the dry granular material from the debris and discharge each separately.

The clarifier is disposed beneath the aerator and the top of the clarifier with a common wall therebetween which forms the bottom of the aerator. A first passage conducts fluid from the aerator to the clarifier and has a central port in the common wall. A second passage conducts fluid from the clarifier to the disinfector.
