  • Patent number: 8281454
Abstract: A multi-blade ice removing windshield wiper assembly has a support frame carrying an axially rotatable elongate body having three radially extending spacedly arrayed windshield engaging blades. A toothed blade having a plurality of teeth scores accumulated frost and ice on a windshield while windshield wiper arm moves in a first direction. Spacedly adjacent shaving blade clears away the scored frost and ice from the windshield as the windshield wiper arm moves in the second opposite direction. Third flexible wiper blade removes rain and water from the windshield and may be selectively engaged when the frost and ice removing blades are not needed. Locking mechanism positionally secures the elongate body within the support frame to prevent unwanted axial rotation of the body within the support frame.

  • Patent number: 8167254
Abstract: A trash container emptying mechanism provides an upstanding “U” shaped yoke with two horizontally spaced apart vertically extending arms each having a perpendicular base portion mounted to wheeled cart. A trash container carrier having a partially circumferentially extending rigid upper support, a vertically spaced apart bottom support and at least one vertical leg communicating between the rigid upper support and the bottom support is pivotally carried within the yoke on two offset pivot spacers and two horizontal axles extending therethrough and therebetween. A flexible length adjustable strap releasably secures the trash container to the carrier and a removable position locking pin extends through aligned axle holes defined in yoke vertical arm and carrier to positionally secure the carrier and trash container in a vertical orientation within the yoke.

  • Patent number: 8152343
Abstract: An adaptor or an original lamp. The adaptor is used with a lamp having a light bulb to better mount a loop-type lamp shade thereon. The adaptor has a harp assembly with harp sections that extend from a mounting ring or collar that fits about the head of the lamp. The collar can be eliminated when the apparatus is built in to the lamp head during manufacture. The adapter allows support of the lamp shade by both the loops and using a harp to thus reduce tilting or other disorientation of the lamp shade.

  • Patent number: 8145306
Abstract: A method to optimize CRT therapy using ventricular lead motion analysis, either radiographically or with three dimensional electromagnetic mapping, to determine whether focal dyssynchrony is present at baseline, and whether biventricular pacing improves synchronicity and fractional shortening, and if no improvement is evidenced, changing the timing offset, pacing configuration and/or repositioning the ventricular leads to optimize effectiveness of CRT therapy. Various uses of this method include: diagnostic, with temporary leads to determine presence or absence of dyssynchrony and response to pacing; and therapeutic, to guide lead placement and programming during implant of CRT, and to optimize reprogramming of CRT during follow-up.

  • Patent number: 8118184
Abstract: A lid for controlled drinking from a drinking container includes an aperture adjacent a periphery, and a closure device formed as a single continuous piece of material. The closure device has an actuator portion, a web portion and a valve portion. The actuator portion has a distal portion extending outward of the periphery, and a proximal portion attached to a first end of the web portion. A second end of the web is attached to the valve portion. The valve portion can rotate about a pivot point and move from a closed position over the aperture when the actuator portion is in a first position, towards an open position away from the aperture when the actuator portion is moved towards a second position, during which the web winds around a suitably shaped region partially surrounding the pivot point.

  • Patent number: 8100615
Abstract: A load securing and moving device for a truck bed provides a slide rail affixed to each opposing inner side of the truck bed proximate an upper edge of each inner side. A sliding gate block carried on each slide rail communicates with an endless loop moving device carried inside a channel defined by each slide rail to move the sliding gate block along the length of each slide rail. A drive shaft communicates between the first slide rail and the second slide rail to transfer motion therebetween. A hand crank communicating with the endless loop moving device within the channel provides for forward and rearward movement of sliding gate blocks along the slide rails. A gate removably engages with and extends between the two sliding gate blocks providing a load securing and moving apparatus within the truck bed.

  • Patent number: 8091292
Abstract: An apparatus for providing improved egress and greater safety for subterranean window wells. The apparatus has relatively low lifting force to allow people to escape fires and earthquake damaged buildings through egress windows. The apparatus can include mounts which are U-shaped and fit over opposing sides of the window well wall and are connected thereto. The mounts may have pivots which connect to an operator that applies upward force upon a grate assembly that covers the window well. The mounts and grate are hinged to pivot and allow the grate to be opened when needed. The operator has swivel and ball connections and an adjustable outboard connector.

  • Patent number: 7934297
Abstract: A twist off tamper-proof fastener having an elongate flexible strap defining a plurality of parallel adjacent transverse teeth in opposing planar surfaces. First end portion of elongate strap is tapered to a rounded tip for insertion through a “T” slot defined in a dimensionally larger head portion carried at opposing end of the elongate strap. A fixed tooth and plural angulated teeth carried by a flexing arm irremovably engage with the teeth defined in the elongate strap. The head portion is elliptic with opposing spaced apart rounded ends and opposing planar sides to facilitate grasping and twisting by a user, and for identifying indicia. A circumferentially extending notch is defined in the elongate strap immediately adjacent the head portion. Twisting the head portion creates shearing forces that are focused at the circumferential notch breaking the fastener and allowing removal without tools.

  • Patent number: 7931302
Abstract: A mud flap mounting assembly for vehicles providing an elongate laterally extending central support beam defining a medial channel slidably carrying similar elongate mud flap extensions extendible from each opposing end to positions laterally outward of the vehicles' rear tires. The central support beam is secured to a ball mount receiving box beam extending rearwardly from the vehicle by two medial spacedly adjacent depending fastening arms carrying two vertically spaced fasteners extending therethrough above and below the receiving box beam. A mud flap mounting arm carrying a depending mud flap is fastened to the laterally outer end portion of each mud flap extension. A collar carried at the inner end portion of each mud flap mounting arm and having a releasable fastener positionally secures and maintains the mud flap extension and mud flap mounting arm to the central support beam.
