Abstract: An injection nozzle for injection moulding purposes has a nozzle body with a feed passage opening which is normally closed by a needle valve. The injected resin, under high pressure, forces the needle valve to retract and open the nozzle. The improvement is a piston on the needle valve acted on by spring means to urge the needle valve to closed position, the needle valve having a valve element which, when the needle valve is fully opened, seals off the cylinder in which the piston moves, thereby to prevent entry of injection material into the cylinder. The cylinder may optionally have a charge of gas under high pressure in it, or a material which produces such a charge under the operating conditions of the nozzle.
Abstract: A dust exhausting hood is for use with surface working machines such as surface grinders. To enable the hood to remain in close contact with the surface being worked, a mantle which surrounds the working tool is connected to a mounting ring, engaged on the machine head, by guide means which permit both axial movement and tilting of the mantle of the hood with respect to its mounting ring, the mantle being constantly urged into contact with the worked surface by means of a compression spring acting between the mounting ring and the mantle. To permit maximum axial movement of the mantle, within limits, with respect to the mounting ring, the spring is a helical spiral spring which can be compressed into planar form.
Abstract: The wheels for roller skates and the like in accordance with the present invention comprise wheel bodies which have sockets provided at right and left ends of the wheel bodies and communicated through center holes with a diameter smaller than that of the sockets, two ball bearings mounted on the wheel bodies and elastic pipes inserted into the center holes, wherein two ball bearings are made with a construction in which steel balls are provided between the inner ring provided with a flange on its outer periphery and the outer ring provided with a flange on its inner periphery and these flanges are concentrically fitted in opposed position and mounted onto the outer peripheries of the flanges of the outer and inner rings, and the ends of a hub of the inner ring is fitted into the right and left sockets of the wheel bodies while being kept contact with the ends of the elastic pipes, thereby the wheels are suited to prevent backlash due to wear and tear of steel balls and outer and inner rings resulting from any
Abstract: A flash switching arrangement for a camera which includes a shutter with an opening leaf and a closing leaf and has a contact nipple and a contact shoe for the attachment of flash units. The switching arrangement includes first and second switching means electrically connected between the first contact shoe and the contact nipple respectively. First coupling means are connectible between the first and second switching means and the opening leaf of the shutter. Second coupling means are connectible between the first and second switching means and the closing leaf of the shutter. On actuation of the shutter, the opening leaf effects closure of both the first and second switching means to ignite the flash unit and after exposure, the closing leaf effects opening of both the first and second switching means.

Abstract: In continuously casting molten steel at least a pair of rolls is disposed near the leading end of the crater at which solidification of the molten steel in the cast piece completes so as to roll the cast piece at a reduction rate of from 0.1 to 2.0%. The variation in the thickness of the cast piece is detected and compared with a definite reference value for controlling the drawing speed and or the quantity of the secondary cooling water.
Abstract: A mine roof support control monitoring system in which at least some of a row of self advancing mine-roof supports at a mine face each include means for providing data relating to successive advances of that support. This data is accumulated by other means of the system and stored to give readily available indicationsof differences of actual support advances. The system preferably further includes means for pre-energizing the advance mechanisms of such supports to eliminate data relating to slack or tolerance.
Abstract: 0.degree.COLD JUNCTION COMPENSATOR PROVIDES THE ELECTRICAL EQUIVALENT OF AN ICE-BATH REFERENCE THERMOCOUPLE, AT A SELECTED TEMPERATURE, FOR EXAMPLE O.degree. C.
