    Abstract: An anesthesia scavenging hood is adapted to fit over the head of a surgical patient and to prevent the contamination of operating rooms with waste anesthetic vapor and nitrous oxide gas. The hood enables placement of an endotracheal tube or other breathing or anesthesia circuit into the patient's airway. The hood may be sealed about the endotracheal tube and about the patient. The hood also includes a port having disposed therein a suction tube which communicates waste vapor and gas out of the hood and outside of the operating room with the aid of a vacuum source.
