Abstract: An illuminated plastic treat carrier, such as a Jack-o-lantern, having an insert with a handle activated switch that activates the lights when the carrier is lifted by the handle. The insert is mounted inside the carrier and has one or more incandescent lamps or light emitting diodes in series or parallel circuit with a dry cell battery and a switch mechanism formed at one end of the handle. Additionally, a bimetallic or solid state flashing unit may be incorporated into the light circuit.
