Abstract: An improved solar collector having a screen, positioned between the light admitting layer and the energy absorbing layer, for increased energy retention is disclosed. A forced air heat transfer means which is adaptable to modular construction is also disclosed.
Abstract: An improved contact lens with a truly non-spherical bevel is disclosed, along with a method and apparatus for making same. Lenses, including the theoretically perfect "ski" periphery are consistently produced and reproduced by bringing the posterior surface of the unfinished lens into contact with a rotating abrasive coated working surface. The working surface or tool is size selected to match the unfinished lens and desired fitting dimensions. The working surface is formed on a tool body having a central axis and having a smooth three-dimensional curvilinear surface configuration generated by the rotation of an S-shaped curve produced by the circumferential arcs of two tangential conic-section curves about the central axis.
Abstract: A resilient exercising device utilizing two highly elastic members and having handles at first ends of the members for the use of the hands and loops at the second ends of the members for the use of the feet is disclosed. An adjustable clip connector is provided to slidably connect and vary the lengths and the tension of the exercising device.
Abstract: A vacuum formed water bed mattress providing a pair of large flat opposite parallel sides and four narrower sides joined to form a substantially right regular parallelopiped is disclosed. One of the large flat sides is made of a heat resistant material. The other flat side and four narrower sides are formed from a single sheet of material by a vacuum and temperature molding process. The two sheets are heat sealed to form the mattress. A method for the making of a water bed mattress is also disclosed.
Abstract: A grain scalping and cleaning apparatus for removing impurities in grain according to size is disclosed. The apparatus includes multiple grain movement paddles moving relative to appropriate screens. An endless chain drives the grain movement paddles. Both large and small impurities are separated from the grain through the use of the screens and paddles with the aid of gravity. A method for removing impurities in grain is also disclosed.
