  • Patent number: 7632391
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for electrochemically etching grooves in a working surface. In an aspect, a frame holds a working surface about an axis and facing an electrode movable along the axis. The electrode, axially movable, has surface carrying a groove pattern to fix on the working surface. A source of electrolyte is pumped at a fixed static pressure rate between the surface of the movable electrode and the working surface. In an aspect, a support fixture supports the electrode for movement toward and away from the working surface with minimal frictional restriction. A force biases the electrode surface toward the working surface so that a gap through which the electrolyte flows between the surface of the movable electrode and the working surface is determined primarily by the static flow rate of the electrolyte and the force bias of the electrode toward the working surface.

  • Patent number: 6825067
Abstract: A new method is provided for the creation of a mold cap. The mold cap anchoring feature of the invention is designed and incorporated from the start of the design and fabrication of the substrate. Various design options of the mold anchor of the invention can be implemented. The mold anchor of the invention allows the mold compound to flow underneath the substrate where the mold compound will remain in place until the process of mold formation is completed. The mold compound of the package will penetrate all available cavities surrounding and being accessible from the mold anchor of the invention where the mold compound will remain in place and harden. After hardening, the mold compound surrounding the mold anchor will support the anchored area.

  • Patent number: 5657413
Abstract: A fiber optic cable system, such as a preterminated fiber cable, includes a main cable and one or more drop cables connected to the main cable at spaced apart locations along the main cable. The drop cable is spliced to the main cable using a splice closure including a fiber guide that secures spliced together end portions of the respective fibers in a longitudinally extending direction and devoid of any slack coils of optical fibers. Accordingly, the overall diameter of the splice closure is relatively small thereby permitting the cable system to be stored on a reel and to be readily placed within small diameter conduits. The splice closure includes a heat recoverable housing surrounding the fiber guide. Cable sheath end portions are sealed by melting C-shaped bodies of heat flowable material positioned adjacent cable sheath end portions.

  • Patent number: 5609501
Abstract: A feedthrough coaxial cable connector includes a tubular mandrel body dimensioned to be pressed between a foil-bonded dielectric core and other elements of an outer conductor of the prepared end of the cable. The body has cable engagement surface which defines a knife edge projection therearound for engaging an outer conductor of the cable by creating shear stresses therein without actually shearing the outer conductor. A tubular shank portion extends from the cable engagement surface portion to a radial wall portion, and a jack engagement portion is coaxial about the exposed central conductor. The jack engagement portion achieves a tight friction fit upon a jack and may be formed as an inside compression collet. A radial compression providing structure causes an inside surface region of the outer conductor to bear directly against and bend over the knife edge portion.

  • Patent number: 5598455
Abstract: A test system directed to apparatus for transmitting and receiving multiple telephone transmission signals over a single twisted pair. The system converts an analog signal from a local switching station to an 80 ksymbols/sec signal for transmission over a twisted pair by a line card. A remote terminal converts the 80 ksymbols/sec signal back into a conventional analog signal for use in conventional telephone, facsimile or other related equipment. The test equipment separately tests the entire system, the line card portion of the system, the remote terminal portion of the system, and the twisted pair.

  • Patent number: 5588869
Abstract: A terminal block for interconnecting conductors in telecommunications circuits is disclosed. The terminal block allows a plurality of telecommunication wires to be progressively connected to a connector member. The terminal block includes a conductor transporting driver module having passageways that customer wires and service wires are inserted into and a connector chamber housing two insulation displacing connector members for the tip and ring lines. Wires are connected to the connector member progressively through a cyclical motion of the driver module relative to the connector members along a path of travel having an angle relative to a mounting surface which facilitates easy access to both wires and a threaded fastener actuating the driver module even in the most demanding telecommunications housing environments.
