Abstract: A method for determining direction of transmission using an antenna array having a number of panels is disclosed. Each panel is configured to receive signals. According to one aspect of the method, each of the panels is directed to receive signals from a transmitting node. For each panel, a first table having data representing received signal power difference between the panel and a first neighboring panel and a second table having data representing received signal power difference between the panel and a second neighboring panel are built. The panel with the maximum received power is identified. For the identified panel, a first gain table and a second gain table corresponding to its first and second neighboring panels are searched to identify a first transmission angle and a second transmission angle, if any. A transmission angle relative to the transmitting node is determined using the first and second transmission angles.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for significantly reducing the initial set-point error and voltage margining accuracy of a DC/DC converter. The initial set-point error is reduced by utilizing the remote sense lines of a DC/DC converter to sense the voltage from the DC/DC converter that is actually applied to the load. A power supply controller having inputs coupled to the remote sense lines compares the sensed voltage to a precision voltage reference and provides an output voltage to the TRIM input of the DC/DC converter. The apparatus and method may be implemented in a voltage supply margining test set-up to test the functionality of an electronic device while the DC/DC converter supplies a voltage to the device that is at either the upper or lower margin of an acceptable supply voltage range of the device.
Abstract: A sense amplifier having dual differential inputs configured to accept differential analog input voltages. The differential analog input voltages are fused to determine a weighted signal digitally representative of the differential analog input voltages. An input offset voltage cancellation circuit may be coupled to the sense amplifier to reduce an input offset voltage of the sense amplifier.
Abstract: A method of creating a thermally grown oxide of any thickness at the bottom of a silicon trench. A dielectric (e.g. oxide) pillar of a predetermined thickness is formed on a semiconductor substrate. A selective epitaxial growth (SEG) process is used to form an epitaxial layer around and over the oxide pillars. A trench is patterned and etched through the SEG layer and in alignment with the oxide pillar such that the trench terminates at the top of the oxide pillar.
Abstract: A method of increasing trench density for semiconductor devices such as, for example, trench MOSFETs. Trenches are formed in a substrate with mesas interposed between the trenches. The initial width of the mesas are made less than target width so that a reduction in trench pitch can be realized. After a silicon layer is grown inside the trenches, the width of the mesas is increased to a final width that is two times the thickness of the silicon layer. The thickness of the silicon layer is precalculated so that it is of sufficient thickness to ensure compliance with the target mesa width.
Abstract: An electroporation system and method for directing high-voltage currents to a suspension of cells contained in a cuvette. A high-voltage switch controls the coupling of a charge control to a high-voltage capacitor and, additionally, controls the coupling of the high-voltage capacitor to the cuvette. A current diverter diverts current away from the sample whenever an arc condition commences or a low sample resistance is detected across the cuvette. The current diverter includes a current diverter switch, which is triggered when a sense resistor measures a second predetermined voltage indicative of an arc-over event (or a low sample resistance condition).
