Abstract: An apparatus for performing continuous flow chemical reactions such as oxidation, oxidative dehydrogenation and partial oxidation processes involving a reactor design characterized by controlled/optimized addition of a reactant with the objective of: (i) avoiding the explosion regime of the reactant mixture (e.g., hydrocarbon/oxidant mixture); (ii) maximizing the selectivity of the reaction to the desired product; (iii) limiting the reactor temperature gradient and therefore the threat of reaction runaway; and (iv) controlling the operating temperature of the reaction zone so that desirable temperature range is maintained over the entire zone.

Abstract: Methods for the catalytic production of vinyl acetate monomer from ethane, ethylene or an ethane/ethylene mixture using a first catalyst containing MoVNbPd, MoVLaPdNbX (where X is Al, Ga, Ge or Si) or MoVNbX (where X is P, B, Hf, Te, As or mixtures thereof) in the first step of oxidation and using a conventional VAM catalyst for the second step. The method produces high yields to acetic acid and vinyl acetate without the coproduction of carbon monoxide.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new olefin polymerization catalyst composition, and methods of preparing and methods of using the catalysts to polymerize various olefinic monomers in either gas or slurry phase reactions. The principal advance over the previous art of record involves using alumoxanes or combinations of alumoxanes as catalyst preactivators. Polymers prepared from these catalysts posses productivity increased as high as 40 percent. At the same time, the bulk density remains relatively constant. Additionally, the total amount of cocatalyst species needed to effectively practice the invention is relatively low.
Abstract: Wood pulp sheets treated with triacetin and other compounds, or solutions or emulsions of same, having increased softness while maintaining absorbency, and methods for producing same. More particularly, the invention relates to the treatment of wood pulp useful for making a fluff pulp using a softening agent including alkyl ethers, aryl ethers and formic, ethanoic and propanoic esters of low molecular weight glycols, such as triacetin, propylene glycol diacetate and 2-phenoxyethanol.
Abstract: High space velocity catalysts useful in the substantial elimination of chloroprene and trichloroethylene from an industrial product stream of ethane dichloride; the last is useful in the production of vinyl chloride.

Abstract: An assembly for converting a conventional drill press into an oscillating spindle sander is disclosed. The oscillating spindle sander assembly is comprised of an auxiliary motor which is adapted to be mounted on a drill press. An eccentric drive is attached to the rotating shaft of the auxiliary motor and is used to drive a push rod in a lateral reciprocating motion. The opposite end of the push rod is attached to one of the spindle spokes of the drill press, and causes it to move in a radially reciprocating motion which induces the drill press spindle, drill chuck and a sanding tool mounted therein, to move up and down in an oscillating motion. The oscillating spindle sander assembly of the invention can be easily disabled and the converted drill press returned to normal operation by removing the push rod from the spindle spoke of the drill press.
Abstract: A tube connector utilized in connecting a drip tube to a header pipe in a heap leach mining percolation system which provides for strength at the normally weak connection between the header pipe and the drip tube. The tube connector includes a housing providing a fluid passageway extending therethrough between a header pipe and a drip tube. A nipple section is formed at one end of the housing for accommodating the drip tube therearound which is of a relatively short length, and hence, a relatively short bending movement, to significantly reduce breakage of the connector during transportation.
