Abstract: A method for decorating a substrate using a kit that includes a laminate comprising a cover sheet having a layer of adhesive on one surface, a predetermined printed design, and pieces of optical film that have peripheral shapes corresponding to parts of the printed design, each of which pieces has a layer of adhesive along one surface and grooves or other structure along an opposite surface so that the pieces visually simulate decorative structures. The pieces of optical film are placed over portions of the design corresponding to their shapes, the structured surfaces of the pieces of film are adhered to the adhesive on the laminate, and the pieces of optical film adhered to the layer of adhesive on the laminate are positioned at a desired location on the substrate. Air is pressed out from between the pieces of optical film and the substrate, after which the laminate is removed to leave the pieces of optical film adhered to the substrate in the predetermined design.

Abstract: A material supply assembly for use with a spraying device, which material supply assembly includes a housing of stiff material comprising a side wall having a top end defining an opening into a recess defined by the housing; and a pre-filled container comprising a stiff annular lip adapted to be positioned along the top end of the side wall, and a flexible portion fixed to the annular lip and adapted to extend into the cavity in the housing when the annular lip is positioned along the top end of the side wall. The flexible portion has an inner surface defining a cavity, and a quantity of material is within the cavity in the flexible portion. A polymeric membrane extends across and is sealed to the annular lip to retain the material in the cavity.

Abstract: A dispenser from which sheet material may be dispensed from a supply of the sheet material carried on the dispenser. The dispenser has a frame on which the roll of sheet material is journaled for rotation about its axis. An elongate blade fixed to the frame has a sharp cutting edge that is adapted for transversely cutting the sheet material after a desired length of the sheet material has been dispensed. A guard strip of resiliently movable material extends along one major surface of the blade and along the cutting edge to help protect the sheet material and/or users of the dispenser from the cutting edge. That guard strip is resiliently movable by pulling the sheet material toward the cutting edge to allow the cutting edge to transversely sever the sheet material being pulled from the dispenser.

Abstract: A method for making a laminate adapted for decorating a substrate including providing (1) a sheet of pre-mask material including a cover layer and a layer of removable adhesive on one surface of the cover layer having an exposed surface defining a first major surface for the sheet of pre-mask material; (2) a supply length of decorative film tape comprising a length of decorative film having opposite first and second major surfaces, and a layer of adhesive along its second major surface; (3) a sheet of release liner having a first major surface adapted to be releasably adhered to by the removable adhesive on the cover layer and by the adhesive on the decorative film; and (4) a tape applicator.

Abstract: A sanding disc particularly useful for smoothing drywall. The sanding disc includes a circular abrasive disc having an abrasive surface, and a circular foam disc smaller in diameter than the abrasive disc which is co-axially adhered to the surface of the abrasive disc opposite its abrasive surface. The abrasive disc has a circular central portion along which the surface defined by the abrasive is generally planar, and has an annular peripheral portion extending from its central portion to its peripheral surface along which its surface defined by the abrasive is generally cylindrically convex to position the peripheral surface of the abrasive disc in a plane passing through the foam disc.

Abstract: The “B” post of an automobile between its front and rear doors is masked before the vehicle is painted by (1) providing a resiliently conformable strip of masking material having a width greater than the maximum distance between the trailing edge of the front door adjacent the “B” post and the leading edge of the rear door adjacent the “B” post and a length at least equal to the length of those edges along the “B” post to be masked, which strip has pressure sensitive adhesive on a surface adjacent a longitudinal edge of the strip; (2) opening the front door; (3) applying the strip to the inner surface of the leading edge of the rear door so that the pressure sensitive adhesive securely adheres the strip to conform with the profile of the leading edge and the strip extends across the “B” post to an extent sufficient to overlap with the trailing edge of the front door when said front door is closed; and (4) closing the front door to abut the overlap an

Abstract: Several embodiments of small volume containers for use to feed liquid to a gravity feed liquid spraying device. Each container comprises a body portion having axially spaced first and second ends, means for closing the second end of the body portion, and a first adapter attached to the first end of the body portion. The body portion, means for closing, and first adapter have inner surfaces defining a cavity in the container having a small volume. The adapter comprises an engagement portion having a through opening communicating with the cavity in the body portion, which engagement portion is adapted for liquid and air tight engagement an inlet port of the spraying device. The container includes vacuum restricting means for restricting vacuum within its cavity as liquid moves out of its cavity into a spraying device through the opening in the first adapter with the second end of the container uppermost.

Abstract: A device for applying tape from a roll of tape (e.g., masking tape) along a surface to be protected with an edge of the tape extending along a juncture between the surface to be protected and a surface to be treated disposed at about a right angle with respect to the surface to be protected. The device includes a two portion housing around and journaling the tape roll, each portion having a tape contacting part of its inner surface in a first plane, and having in a second plane a guide part of its outer surface adapted to be slid along the surface to be treated. The first and second planes on each of the housing portions can be at a small angle with respect to each other and intersect along an application side of the housing.

Abstract: A package assembly including a housing that has an attachable portion and a manually removable portion. Also included is a length of attachment strip material having opposite major surfaces defined by stretch release adhesive extending between its opposite ends. The length of attachment strip material has a first part adhered along the outer surface of the attachable portion of the housing, and a second part extending from one end of the first part; and that second part of the length of attachment strip material is disposed to restrict adhesion between it and a planar surface to which the first part of the length of attachment strip material is adhered to support the housing along that surface.

Abstract: An improved wheeled support assembly for a trailer spraying device including a tank for liquid to be sprayed mounted on a main frame of the device, and a spray assembly adapted to spray liquid from the tank in a predetermined pattern through a spray boom projecting from both sides of the frame. Two large wheels are mounted on each side of the main frame by a rigid wheel adapting frame fixed to the main frame that comprises two elongate support members each spaced from a different one of the sides of the main frame to provide wheel clearance spaces between those elongate support members and the sides of the main frame.

Abstract: An assembly for feeding liquid to the inlet port of a gravity feed sprayer. The assembly includes (1) a mixing cup of a known type commonly used to mix paint with solvent that is of stiff polymeric material and bears indicia on its side wall indicating the levels to which a plurality of different liquids should be sequentially poured into the cup to achieve a predetermined ratio between the liquids; (2) a first adapter comprising a central portion having a through opening and a transverse portion including a peripheral part defining a groove along its inner surface adapted for sealing engagement with a top end of the mixing cup; and (3) a second adapter having a through opening, a first end portion of which second adapter is adapted to releasably engage the inlet port of a gravity feed paint sprayer.

Abstract: An assembly for making accurate mixtures of liquid components and feeding that liquid mixture to the inlet port of a sprayer. The assembly includes (1) a container of stiff visually transparent polymeric material comprising a side wall with a frusto conical inner surface, and a bottom wall at the bottom end of the side wall opposite a top end of the side wall that defines an opening into a cavity in the container. A flexible liner positioned within the cavity in the container has an outer surface corresponding in shape to the inner surface of the container, an inner surface defining a cavity in the liner, and an annular lip along the top end of the side wall defining an opening into the cavity in the liner.

Abstract: A portable dispenser with which lengths of a sheet material may be manually dispensed from a supply roll of the sheet material. The dispenser has a frame including a bridging portion adapted to extend along a portion of the periphery of the roll of sheet material, and end wall portions fixed to the ends of the bridging portion and adapted to extend along the opposite end surfaces of the roll of sheet material on which the roll of sheet material is rotatably journaled. A resiliently flexible cantilevered portion of the frame has a proximal edge fixed to the bridging portion and has a sharp cutting edge along its opposite distal edge. A guard portion of the frame extends between its end wall portions and has an inner surface extending along the side of the cutting edge opposite the roll.

Abstract: A tape laminate adapted to support or locate an object along a substrate. The tape laminate comprises a support layer of strong, flexible, conformable, essentially non stretchable material having firmly attached thereto an attachment strip comprising a layer of stretch release adhesive defining an exposed major surface that is adapted to adhere the attachment strip to the substrate. In one embodiment, consisting only of the conformable support layer and the attachment strip, the tape laminate can be used to support or locate an object along a substrate (e.g., along a vertical wall) by conforming the tape laminate to the contour of portions of the object and of the wall and adhering a part of the layer of stretch release adhesive to each of those portions. In other embodiments, the tape laminate further includes means such as separable fasteners, twist ties, cable ties, elastic bands, or hooks for facilitating engagement of objects to be supported or located by the tape laminate.
