  • Patent number: 4647933
Abstract: A diagonal phased antenna array for use as a wind profiler by means of Doer shift measurements comprises a plurality of Yagi-Uda antennas which are oriented in a predetermined direction such that Yagi-Uda antennas have a polarization 45.degree. offset from the principal planes of operation of the antenna array resulting in similar radiation patterns subject to a geometric taper in the array aperture with respect to the principal planes.

  • Patent number: 4192979
Abstract: An apparatus for blocking the transmission of echo signals in telephone communications circuits is disclosed. The apparatus employs a voice-activated switch in the transmit channel at each telephone terminal of the telephone circuit to block transmission of signals below a selectable threshold. Under all conditions where received speech signals are present at a telephone terminal, a higher threshold for the switch at that terminal is selected than would otherwise be used to block noise in the channel. This higher threshold is set above the level of the echo signals to prevent their transmission from that terminal by the switch.

  • Patent number: 4156860
Abstract: A device for a resonant microwave cavity which includes a tuning plunger assembly to make the resonant frequency less temperature sensitive. The frequency response of a cavity filter, determined by its resonant frequency, primarily depends on the dimensions of the filter cavity. Since cavity dimensions will vary with changes in ambient temperature, some form of compensation is necessary to stabilize the frequency response. The tuning plunger assembly is comprised of a sandwich of materials having substantially different coefficients of expansion. One of the materials, a potting compound with a high coefficient of thermal expansion, acts as an operator to vary the configuration of the plunger assembly in order to maintain the resonant frequency of the cavity substantially fixed.

  • Patent number: 4133699
Abstract: A solar cell coverslide, oversize to protect the cell against damage from radiation, is modified to have an edge portion configured to bend light incident on said edge portion inwardly toward an underlying solar cell. An adhesive fillet may be formed between the undersurface of the overhanging portion of the coverslide and the top edge of the solar cell to facilitate further the transmission of light striking the configured edge portion into the solar cell.
