  • Patent number: 4360814
Abstract: A trimming device for a whip antenna, and the like, wherein two coaxial coils are connected in series with each other and with the antenna whip; and a tuning ring is positioned in the combined external magnetic field of both coils. The tuning ring, being in the external field, has an annular flow of electricity induced therein which in turn produces a magnetic field which opposes that of the coils. In the preferred arrangement, an insulating spacer sheet is wrapped over the inside coil, and the outside coil is wound tightly over the spacer sheet to provide a predetermined amount of intercapacitance between the coils, which can be changed by changing the thickness of the spacer sheet.

  • Patent number: 4357543
Abstract: A wave motor comprising flotation means, a ramp carried by said flotation means to convert waves into breakers and means to cause the water in approximately the top half of the breakers to be moving horizontally forward at the time of impact against an energy conversion vane. The vane drives an electric generator that produces a pulsating D.C. current voltage basically the same frequency as that of the sea waves and an electrolytic cell driven by said generator produces hydrogen at the pulsing frequency of the sea waves.

  • Patent number: 4319659
Abstract: A fluid pressure motor having a normally used internal electrical heating element which vaporizes internal fluid to actuate the motor. The motor further includes means in heat transfer proximity to the outside of the motor which can be caused to convert its stored energy to sufficient heat to actuate the motor.

  • Patent number: 4318005
Abstract: An object of the present invention is the provision of a new and improved vehicle anti-theft device wherein electrical switches are located in the operator compartment of the vehicle and must be actuated in proper sequence to transmit simple make or break functions through wires leading to electronic circuitry that is located in a locked area, and which controls the ignition circuit. Additional code actuated circuitry is provided to permit authorized personnel, e.g. parking attendants, to operate the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4314317
Abstract: A flashlight having side by side compartments for storage and a battery respectively. The battery compartment has partial dividers for confining the battery and leaving a space for a contact strip having a leg portion on which the battery sits. A snap in divider fits above the battery to hold a lamp, and the top of the contact strip is bent inwardly to make contact with the base of the lamp. Different color light transmitting caps can be put over the lamp so that the flashlight can be used for spectator voting or approval. Preferably different color caps can be kept in the storage compartment.

  • Patent number: 4280129
Abstract: An electromagnetic tuning device for RF circuits and particularly loading coils for antennas is disclosed. The preferred devices have a coil which produces a generally torroidal shaped electromagnetic field that is intensified by either a core of ferromagnetic material or a second coil inside the other coil. An insulating material surrounds and hermetically seals the coil and field intensifying device that is inside said coil; and an electrically conductive tuning ring is positioned outside of the insulating material for producing a counter magnetic field which opposes and cuts down the field produced by the first mentioned coil. In one embodiment, the tuning ring is threaded and it threadably engages the insulating material so it can be adjustably positioned relative to the torroidal field. In another embodiment the tuning ring is connected in electrical series circuit with a variable resistor.

  • Patent number: 4275972
Abstract: A mitre joint for picture frames and the like, wherein abutting portions of two members have pockets milled therein that are spaced a predetermined distance inwardly from their abutting surfaces. In addition, channels connect the pockets with the abutting surfaces. A foreshortenable fastener comprising a four sided hollow body, having front, back, top and bottom sides, is positioned in the adjacent channels, with the front and back sides positioned in the pockets. The front and back sides are wider than the top and bottom sides, which extend through the channels, and a screw extends through a hole in the top side into threaded engagement with the bottom side to bow the bottom side inwardly when the screw is tightened. This foreshortens the fastener and pulls the mitre joint together.

  • Patent number: 4247403
Abstract: By separating the woody ring portion of corncobs from the pith and chaff portions a lost circulation additive for drilling muds is produced which does not appreciably increase the yield point of the drilling mud. Improved particle size distributions for lost circulation additives is also given and claimed which permits low concentrations of the additive to produce seals withstanding 1000 psig.

  • Patent number: 4244155
Abstract: A bent steel insert is provided with top and bottom pairs of abutments for engaging the inside surfaces of top and bottom rows of concrete blocks to center the rows on top of each other. The preferred embodiment is made of a single strip of steel by: bending it adjacent one end at approximately a 90.degree. angle; by doubling it back upon itself to project to the opposite side of the original plane of the strip; and then bending it back again to the original plane to provide top and bottom abutments at one end. The opposite end of the strip is similarly bent to form abutments which are a mirror a image of those previously described to thereby provide pairs of top and bottom abutments for centering building blocks on top of each other.

  • Patent number: 4242809
Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and drying animal droppings at room temperature to substantially prevent the decomposition of the protein and urea therein. The droppings are collected on boards positioned beneath cages for the animals, and air at ambient temperature is forced over the droppings. The dried droppings are periodically turned and removed by raking apparatus which moves over the boards and either forces the droppings down tubular means to a conveyor below or sucks the droppings from the boards with vacuum.

  • Patent number: 4239212
Abstract: A push pull exercise device having two sets of coil springs telescoped around respective members of parallel sets of rods that are moved endwise to each other. Pulling forces on the rods are opposed by one set of the springs, and pushing forces on the rods are opposed by the other set of springs. The device can be quickly knocked down to a package of parallely touching parts.
