  • Patent number: 5886144
Abstract: An efficient and low-cost method for conversion of TNT by alkaline degradon to a mixture of products and the subsequent mineralization of such products by microbes.

  • Patent number: 5886626
Abstract: A system is tested for jamming resistance by supplying a simulated jamming ignal. The simulated jamming signal is produced by calculating a propagation path loss in the terrain between the system under test and a location where the jammer would be, predicting a jamming level in accordance with the propagation path loss, and generating a simulated jamming signal. The simulated jamming signal is supplied to the antenna port of the system under test. The testing does not require the use of either a real jammer or a pilot signal generator at the location where the jammer would be.

  • Patent number: 5763158
Abstract: A method for simultaneously testing a sample for the presence of multiple rget antigens or antibodies in the sample, which comprises presenting the sample to a plurality of different binding sites, wherein at least two of the sites are binding sites for different known target antigens or antibodies, each known binding site is composed of at least one molecule of a ligand-enzyme complex attached to a support, and the ligand-enzyme complex is a ligand attached to an enzyme in proximity to the enzyme's active site such that the enzymatic activity of the ligand-enzyme complex is changed when the target antibody or antigen is present in the sample. The ligand-enzyme complex embraces nonenzymatic reporter molecules such as electrochemiluminescent compounds. The method also includes assaying each binding site for a change in enzymatic or other reporter activity compared to a control value. A device for performing simultaneous detection of multiple target antigens or antibodies is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5690089
Abstract: A mechanical hand grenade launcher comprised of a launch tube and spring-ven plunger for propelling a hand grenade to a target area. At the aft end of the launcher is a charging handle that when pulled rearward compresses a spring within the launcher tube. When the spring has been sufficiently compressed, the spring is then locked in the cocked position by a safety pin attached to a first lanyard. A hand grenade is loaded through the fore end of the launcher and the grenade's pull pin is attached to a second lanyard. When rearward force is applied to the second lanyard, the grenade pull pin is dislodged from the grenade. To launch the grenade, rearward force is applied to the first lanyard dislodging the safety pin which releases the spring. The force of the expanding spring imparted to the hand grenade propels the hand grenade out of the fore end of the launch tube toward the target area.

  • Patent number: 5583509
Abstract: A communications electronic warfare trainer that includes apparatus and a thod by which a training umpire can control the localized jamming of a victim communications system. A control signal containing an address and duration of jamming is generated and transmitted using the same frequency as the victim communications system. The control signal is processed by a Receiver Unit collocated with the victim communications system to determine if the control signal address matches the address of the victim communications system. If an address match is found, a jamming signal is produced for the specified duration causing disruption of the normal operation of the victim communications system.

  • Patent number: 5551539
Abstract: A trailer surge brake actuator comprises a plurality of stacked slider asblies. At least one rigid first tubular body is affixed by suitable means to the front end of a trailer. A first rigid cylinder slider attached to the towing vehicle extends longitudinally and reciprocates inside the first tubular body. Attached to the first slider is a rigid member connecting the first slider with at least one second cylinder slider which reciprocates within a second tubular body attached to the top of the first tubular body. The rigid member prevents the first and second sliders from rotating when the towing vehicle's pintle rotates. The second slider's end within the second tubular body is in contact with a pushrod that actuates a brake master cylinder attached to the aft end of the second tubular body.
