Abstract: In order to accurately and reliably quantitate HLE on the plasma membranes of the lymphocytes and mononuclear phagocytes, a test sample containing the lymphocytes and mononuclear phagocytes is initially treated with a first antiserum specific for CD4 receptors on the plasma membrane or with a second antiserum specific for chemokine receptors on the plasma membrane. Once the CD4 or chemokine receptors have been rendered non-reactive (competitive) relative to the HLE receptors (also “binding sites”) on the plasma membrane, the test sample is contacted with an immunoreagent specific for interaction with one or more of the HLE receptors on the plasma membranes of the lymphocytes and mononuclear phagocytes. The immunoreagent forms a complex with the HLE binding sites and produces a characteristic physical change in the lymphocytes and mononuclear phagocytes that can be monitored by any one of a number of standard techniques, (e.g., confocal laser scanning microscopy and flow cytometry).

Abstract: It has been known that water having a pH value of 5.5 to 7.5 is suited for the rearing of fresh-water fish and hydroponic cultivation of plants. Bottom soils or filtering media prepared by mixing carbonates of alkali metals or alkali-earth metals with volcano-ash-base soils and sintering the mixture into granules. When used in water tanks or reservoirs for fish rearing or hydroponic cultivation, the bottom soils or filtering media thus prepared provide favorable environments for such rearing and cultivation.

Abstract: A cyanurate compound having three oxetane ring groups and represented by the general formula (1):
wherein R1 represents a member selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom and alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, is useful as a photosetting monomer or thermosetting monomer, and thus is used, together with a hardening agent, for example, a polycarboxylic anhydride and a catalyst, for example, an amine, a carboxylic acid metal salt or a protonic acid, to provide an organic hardening composition usable for producing electronic materials, for example, resists.
Abstract: A metallic base gasket coated with elastic membrane having an outer sealing portion for sealing an outer circumference of a refrigerant compressor and an inner sealing portion for sealing boundaries between high and low pressure regions within the compressor, the outer and inner sealing portions being formed in an elastically deformable ridge, and at least one section of the ridge of the inner sealing portion being trifurcatedly connected to a portion of the ridge of the outer sealing portion to have a geometrical arrangement in which apex lines of the connected three ridges are equiangularly spaced apart from one another with respect to the center of the trifurcated connection of the ridges. The gasket may have an extended flat or curved face portion at the trifurcatedly connected ridges to permit the apexes of the connected ridges lie in the extended flat or curved face portion.
Abstract: The invention provides a redispersible polymer powder based on a mixture of water-insoluble polymer and a water-soluble atomized protective colloid which can be de-activated through a pH change. Abstract: A swash plate (3, 18) and pistons (6, 17) included in a swash plate type compressor are made of an aluminum alloy as a base material. Rotation-preventive interfering surfaces (6d, 17d) of the pistons (6, 17) which interfere with another member to restrain the pistons from rotation about their axes are coated with a film of a solid lubricant. Sliding contact surfaces (6a, 17a) of the pistons (6, 17) in sliding contact with surfaces defining cylinder bores (5, 16) are coated with a film of a solid lubricant.
When the rotation-preventive interfering surfaces (6d) of the pistons (6) come into impulsive contact with the outer circumference (3b) of the swash plate (3), the outer circumference (3b) of the swash plate (3) is coated with a lubricating film.
