  • Patent number: 6836844
Abstract: An information signal copy managing method for properly protecting the copyright of information signals and, at the same time, guaranteeing user advantages in copying information signals within a limited range. Information indicative of the start and end of each piece of information content covered by copyright is superimposed thereon as electronic watermark information. The resultant information signal is transmitted. When the received information signal is copied, both the information indicative of the start of the information content and the information indicative of the end thereof are detected from the electronic watermark information, determining the completion of copying. Thus, copying of information content is managed.

  • Patent number: 6836393
Abstract: A power supply unit designed to control a power output and protect an overload easily, economically with little loss. A DC output which is generated by smoothing a rectified current of a rectifier circuit connected to an AC power source is subjected to switching by a switching circuit, creating an AC output which is supplied to a current resonance circuit. A peak detection circuit detects the peak voltage of a resonance voltage of this current resonance circuit. On the basis of a comparison output of the voltage comparator comparing the peak voltage to the reference voltage of a reference voltage source, the switching frequency of the switching circuit is controlled by a switching control circuit so that it is controlled to cause the peak voltage to match the reference voltage. In this manner, the output power is maintained on the constant level.

  • Patent number: 6836836
Abstract: The present invention provides a memory protective administrative apparatus for a computer for protecting memory access between programs. A virtual address administrative apparatus constituting the first mentioned apparatus receives size of a memory region prepared, and assigns a virtual address region larger than the size. At this time, a top address of a region smaller than size S1 covered by 1-entry of the minimum segment table performs virtual address assigning so as to be aligned to the size S1. In a region of size larger than the S1, hierarchies in which the size can be covered by 1-entry are searched from bottom, and likewise, a virtual address aligned is assigned. A page table is variable in length and has a page entry for a size part. The page table is linked to entry corresponding to the top virtual address of a segment table of a hierarchy used for alignment.

  • Patent number: 6834333
Abstract: A data processing device includes a memory interface (I/F) unit and a control unit. When accessing a data storage device such as a memory card having a built-in flash memory, the data processing device sets a block permission table (BPT) as an access permission table in the memory I/F unit, whereby only when the BPT permits a process to be executed does the memory I/F unit access the storage device, and the memory I/F unit does not execute a process when it is out of an allowable range. Regardless of a process type performed by the control unit and a command type, the memory I/F unit always accesses the storage device in accordance with the BPT set in the memory I/F unit. This effectively prevents the rewriting of data in rewrite-prevented recording media.

  • Patent number: 6834055
Abstract: VPI/VCI of an ATM cell is translated into an internal ID by distribute VPI/VCI entries into sections in a table according to a portion of each VPI/VCI entry. A section to be searched according to the portion of a VPI/VCI of the received ATM cell is selected; and a search over the selected section is performed to find an entry corresponding to the VPI/VCI of the received ATM cell. An internal ID corresponding to the found entry is outputted.

  • Patent number: 6832708
Abstract: A glove donning system and method, the arrangement having typically a vacuum wand for grasping the outer skin of the cuff portion of a glove, after which the wand together with the glove is suitably transported to a vacuum chamber, where the cuff portion is aligned with the rim of the opening of the vacuum chamber. By grasping only the outer skin of the glove, the cuff portion is gently opened sufficiently to enable a deflated inflatable ring to be inserted into the cuff portion. The ring is then inflated while positioned inside the cuff portion, which is thereby expanded until it touches the rim of the vacuum chamber. The rim is provided with a suction ring capable of generating sufficient suction to keep the cuff of the glove pressed against the rim, at which point the inflatable ring may be deflated and removed. A vacuum may then be applied to the chamber, inflating the glove and thus enabling a hand to be inserted thereinto.

  • Patent number: 6832131
Abstract: A legged mobile robot possesses degrees of freedom which are provided at roll, pitch, and yaw axes at a trunk. By using these degrees of freedom which are provided at the trunk, the robot can smoothly get up from any fallen-down posture. In addition, by reducing the required torque and load on movable portions other than the trunk, and by spreading/averaging out the load between each of the movable portions, concentration of a load on a particular member is prevented from occurring. As a result, the robot is operated more reliably, and energy is used with greater efficiency during a getting-up operation. The robot independently, reliably, and smoothly gets up from various fallen-down postures such as a lying-on-the-face posture, a lying-on-the-back posture, and a lying sideways posture.

  • Patent number: 6831755
Abstract: A printer in which difference in color tone or contrast between a picture displayed on a display and a picture printed by the printer device is suppressed to a minimum. The display is preferably integrated with the printer. The printer includes an image data inputting unit for receiving input image information, e.g., by reading image data from a digital storage medium or from film, and providing digital image data based thereupon. Display outputting circuitry outputs an image signal corresponding to the digital image data to the display. A picture printing unit prints an image corresponding to the digital image data on a recording medium. A characteristics correction unit corrects a display setting prescribing display image properties of the display and a printing characteristics setting prescribing printing picture properties of the printing unit, so that color tone and/or contrast of the displayed and printed pictures are equalized.

  • Patent number: 6832257
Abstract: When a request processing unit 2a receives processing request including memory access, it executes processing in accordance with the request, and when memory access takes place, it outputs access request to address designated by the processing request. A memory access proxy unit 2b sets memory protection information 1a of object 1 at a memory management unit 3a to output memory access instruction to a processor 3. The memory management unit 3a generates exception when memory access instruction from the memory access proxy unit 2b is access except for area set as memory protection information 1a. Thus, it is possible to carry out, at high speed, with high reliability, memory access such that, in accordance with request of an object, other object executes.

  • Patent number: 6832132
Abstract: A legged mobile robot is adaptively controlled in its attitude against variable external forces to continue the operation without inversion. When the legged mobile robot kicks an object having a certain mass, such as a ball, the robot is to be prevented from being fallen down by the reactive force from the object. Even if the mass or the repulsion coefficient of the object kicked is unknown, the operation of kicking the object at a sufficiently low speed is carried out at the outset to predict the reactive force produced on actual kicking in order to predict the reactive force produced on actual kicking. The result is that the stability in attitude can be maintained on kicking at an arbitrary speed. The legged mobile robot is able to take part as one of the players in athletic games, such as soccer games, in which each player performs his or her role as the or she is subjected to an external force.

  • Patent number: 6832276
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus wherein a device connected to a host computer enters a sleep mode in accordance with a judgment made by the device itself, and the device is restored to its original operating state by a hardware reset signal received from the host computer. To put it in detail, if no data is exchanged through an ATAPI command data I/F for at least a predetermined period of time, a CPU of the device outputs a sleep mode to a clock generator and a drive power supply block to put the device in a sleep mode. When a CPU of the host computer outputs a HRST signal in this mode to the device through an ATAPI bus to restore the device from the sleep mode, an IRQ signal reception unit of the CPU employed in the device receives this HRST signal. Receiving the HRST signal, the CPU of the device issues a command requesting restoration from the sleep mode to the clock generator and the drive power supply block.
