  • Patent number: 7424932
Abstract: A hoisting device and method for hoisting material up an extension ladder. The device includes a load-carrying carriage having a wheel and roller axle assembly that also serves as rollers for engagement with the rails of the ladder. The wheel and roller axle assembly allows the cart to transition from the ladder rails to the roof surface. Also provided is a dual braking means that serves to prevent the carriage from rolling back down the ladder or off of the roof in cases of cable malfunction. The method employs a hoisting mechanism having a removable winch used in conjunction with a releasable coupled pull cable that is brought to the roof surface on the carriage, detached from the carriage, mounted on the roof and used to return the carriage to and from the roof during hoisting operations. An infinitely adjustable ladder support is provided to support the ladder during a hoist.

  • Patent number: 7240569
Abstract: Load test apparatus for shipping containers comprising a horizontal beam (200), the beam having pivotal plate assemblies (210) attached to lifting eyes (330) or other feature of a container by cables (130) or similar means, extending from the pivotal plates to the lifting eyes. The pivotal plates rotate about a horizontal pin (430) permitting the pivotal plates to become axially aligned with the cables. The Horizontal beam is forced vertically upward by a plurality of force generating means such as hydraulic cylinders (120). The force of the force generating means is applied through a point common to the longitudinal axis of the horizontal beam and the axis of the horizontal pin, thereby eliminating moment loads within components of the assembly. The opposite vertically downward reaction force is applied to the bottom of the container and simulates the force applied by the weight of the typical contents of the container when it is in use.

  • Patent number: 7170071
Abstract: An infrared emitter for use with self-propelled aerial targets used to simulate jet aircraft for use as a target for anti-aircraft missile systems. The emitter provides an infrared source that simulates the infrared energy produced by an aircraft. The emitter incorporates a network of platinum beads that are arranged along and between a plurality of parallel stainless steel screens. The network is contained in a heating conduit that is secured to a housing. The housing is provided with an opening to allow for attachment to the exhaust ports of a self-propelled aerial target's engine. Combustion gases produced by the aerial target's engine are expelled through the exhaust port and pass through to the emitter. The gases heat the network of beads and screens thereby causing the network to emit an infrared signature such that the heat seeking/sensing mechanisms of anti-aircraft missiles systems are able to locate and direct the missile to the target.

  • Patent number: 7025153
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling, processing and disposing the drill cuttings removed from the drilling mud of oil and gas well drilling rigs is disclosed. The apparatus and method utilize a shaker for separating drill cuttings from the mud, conduit for transporting the drill cuttings so separated to an extruder where the separated cuttings are compacted into a plurality of discrete compacted pellet-like bodies. The pellets substantially reduce the volume of drill cuttings. There is also a substantial reduction in the retained fluid volume, including the volume of environmentally harmful fluids, after the cuttings are compacted. Once extruded into pellets, the pelletized drill cuttings are transported to a desired end location that may include dumping the pellets offshore.

  • Patent number: 6902449
Abstract: An improved drive unit for propelling a watercraft through shallow water comprising a steering box pivotally attached to the watercraft transom; a first drive shaft extending through the transom to the steering box; a second drive connected to said first drive shaft by means of a double universal joint; and a drive shaft housing for the second drive shaft, the housing being pivotally connected to the steering box to allow the drive shaft housing to pivot vertically on the steering box. A propeller is mounted to the second propeller shaft for propelling the watercraft. A single action spring-return hydraulic ram, said ram having a housing, a piston and a piston rod, is attached to absorb movement of the shaft housing in the event that an obstacle is encountered. The hydraulic ram is provided with means for moving the ram piston and thereby the piston rod to raise and lower said drive shaft housing and propeller.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling the drill cuttings removed from the drilling mud of an oil and gas well drilling rig is disclosed. The apparatus and method utilize a shaker for separating drill cuttings from the mud, conduit for transporting the drill cuttings so separated to an extruder where the separated cuttings are crushed and compacted into a plurality of discrete compacted pellet-like bodies of a substantially uniform size. Once extruded into pellets, the pelletized cuttings are transported by conveyors to fill collapsible, sealable storage bags that have be positioned on bag racks. When filled the storage bags are filled and then ultimately delivered to a desired location for disposal or further handling.

  • Patent number: 6783113
Abstract: An improved quarter-turn valve having an improved valve stem and handle is presented. The valve stem has four substantially square sides of desired predetermined dimensions and a top surface. The valve stem dimensions may conform to ISO 5211. The valve stem has a keyway extending vertically along one of its sides and a position indicator line extending diagonally across its top surface to positively indicate the status of the valve, whether open or closed. The valve handle valve handle has a substantially square bore that conforms to the side dimensions of the valve stem and a key that extends into the valve handle bore at a desired location. The key conforms to the dimensions of the valve stem keyway so that the handle may be attached to the valve stem only in a desired position with respect to the position indicator line so that the status of the valve, whether open or closed, is indicated by the valve handle as well as the position of the position indicator line.

  • Patent number: 6430990
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a test chamber within a tubular and internally pressure testing the tubular with a test gas. The apparatus is comprised of a generally cylindrical tester body having first and second spaced-apart sealing assemblies that are expandable against the inner wall of the tubular by a piston assembly so as to form a test chamber defined by the inner wall of the tubular and the expanded seal assemblies. The pistons of the first sealing assembly are gas actuated pistons acting in cooperation with the seals of the first sealing assembly in response to a gas under pressure. The pistons of the second sealing assembly are fluid actuated pistons acting in cooperation with the seals of the second sealing assembly in response to a fluid under pressure. The pressure of the gas and the pressure of the fluid used to actuate the first and second pistons are controlled independently of each other. The gas used to activate the first set of pistons is directed to the test chamber to serve as a test gas.
