  • Patent number: 5515773
Abstract: A steam oven includes a chamber for receiving food, a water tank having a discharge valve, and a reservoir in communication with the water tank and the chamber. A barrier divides the reservoir in a receiving compartment and a separate boiling compartment. A passage in the barrier allows the receiving compartment and the boiling compartment to fluidly communicate with each other. In use, water flows from the water tank into the receiving compartment, and then from the receiving compartment into the boiling compartment to be converted into steam. The barrier retards heat transfer from the water in the boiling compartment to the water in the receiving compartment to prevent the water in the receiving compartment from becoming agitated to an extent where air would be allowed to flow through the discharge valve into the water tank, thereby causing an untimely release of water from the water tank into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5508103
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for forming by extrusion a profile of extrudable material having a hard skin surface on a portion of the profile and a decorative enhancement on another portion of the profile. The decorative enhancement is formed integrally with the profile by use of an embossment technique on the profile before the extrusion material sets and hardens. The profile may be used in applications such as picture frames as well as door, wall and window moldings.

  • Patent number: 5470285
Abstract: A compact arrangement for a continuously variable transmission and power train system is provided to be used in rear wheel drive vehicles. In one arrangement, the input shaft is in-line with the output shaft. In this arrangement, the input shaft, having a hydraulic pump, is connected to an engine by a torque converter. A first transfer gear assembly transfers power from the input shaft to the adjustable input pulley of a continuously variable transmission assembly. The adjustable input pulley transfers power to an adjustable output pulley through a belt. A second transfer gear assembly transfers power from the adjustable output pulley to an output shaft in-line with the input shaft. A forward and reverse gear system having a compound planetary gear set and clutch on the output shaft provides forward, neutral, and reverse gears.

  • Patent number: 5468192
Abstract: The present invention provides a radial drive connection between a movable flange and the shaft of an adjustable pulley. Specifically the movable flange is driven through the use of supports fixed to the shaft which radially fix the movable flange while allowing for axial movement. The supports are provided through a rigid disc splined to the shaft. The disc has an annular extension extending therefrom. Attached at one end to the disc and at the opposite end to the extension is at least one guide. Each guide includes a bolt or pin and an annular sleeve. The movable flange is configured to have a foot which has an annular wall to it. Through this wall the movable flange slidably engages the guide and provides a radial drive connection. Because the wall and guide slide, however, the movable flange is permitted to move in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 5453059
Abstract: A silent or inverted tooth chain assembly includes links of different or unequal pitch lengths. Some sets of links have links of a first pitch length, while other sets of links have links of a second, or different pitch length. The pitch length of the links may be altered by varying the distance between the centers of the apertures of two links or the location of the apertures within the link. The links with differing pitch length may be randomly arranged in a prescribed pattern through the length of the chain. In addition to variation of pitch length, further randomization is achieved by including links of two different configurations.

  • Patent number: 5453058
Abstract: A power transmission chain for a variable pulley transmission. The chain includes two half-chains placed side-by-side and offset by one-half pitch. Each half-chain has a plurality of interlaced inner links with each having a pair of depending toes to define a passageway to receive a strut that extends beyond the lateral width of the half-chain. A part of the portion of the strut extending beyond the one half-chain is substantially supported by a strut contact surface located adjacent the outer flank of the toes on the links of the other half-chain so that the strut is substantially fully supported across its full transverse width.

  • Patent number: 5439423
Abstract: A power transmission chain belt wherein each of two mutually offset parallel chains includes connected sets of parallel links, and spaced-apart parallel load block members engage the inner side of the parallel chains. Each set of parallel links includes link plates each having a pair of gripping protrusions formed so as to extend from an inner-side end face facing the load block members. The protrusions engage a pair of engaging grooves formed on each load block member, to thereby hold the link plates. The grooves are open on the opposite end faces of the load block member, and are provided with stopper means for inhibiting relative movements of the link plates and the load block member.

  • Patent number: 5423724
Abstract: A rocker joint for a power transmission chain is formed from a single pin and an associated link aperture. The pin has a substantially flat front surface and a convex back surface, with the back surface being defined by a plurality of radii. The pin is received in the aperture of the link such that the front surface of the pin engages and rocks on the curved surface of the link aperture. The back surface of the pin is movable in the aperture of the links as the surfaces move relative to one another when the chain articulates.

  • Patent number: 5409424
Abstract: A power transmission chain belt wherein sets of parallel links each including at least inner link plates are connected by pivot members to form each of at least two chains arranged in side-by-side parallel relationship with each other with a relative longitudinal offset distance, each pivot member having a first pin and a second pin which rolls on the first pin and whose rotation is prevented. The first and second pins extend through at least the inner link plates, and one of the first and second pins extends, preferably, the second pin, also through an outer link plate of each chain. The chain belt incorporates a mechanism which is associated with the end portion of the above-indicated one of the first and second pins, for inhibiting longitudinal relative movement of the chains.

  • Patent number: 5310384
Abstract: A continuously variable transmission having a belt ratio measurement system. The continuously variable transmission contains a moveable sheave and a fixed sheave. The measurement system includes two tone wheels and pickups. The first tone wheel is mounted to the fixed sheave with a corresponding first pickup mounted proximate thereto. The second tone wheel is mounted to the moveable sheave with a corresponding second pickup mounted proximate thereto. The second tone wheel has angled teeth so that the signal sensed in the second pickup varies in relation to the axial position of the moveable sheave. By comparing the signal sensed by the first pickup with the signal sensed by the second pickup, the axial position of the moveable sheave, and thus the belt ratio of the transmission, may be determined.
