  • Patent number: 6146393
Abstract: An external tubular vascular stapling device is provided for anastomosing a vascular graft to an anastomosis sheath, the latter being initially attached to an arterial or aortic wall, followed by a secondary anastomosis of the sheath to the vascular graft. The procedure enables the device and method to obviate the need for arterial occluding clamps, and produces a stable anastomosis connection. A suitable anastomosing device for this procedure comprises a stapler housing and a separate, multi-grooved anvil which when assembled, form double aligned tubes. The stapling housing includes staple wires and staple pushers mounted within slots oriented orthogonally to the anvil grooves, the vascular graft, and the anastomosis sheath. The distal end of the vascular graft is passed through the tubular portion of the anvil and everted over the end of the anvil. The proximal end of the graft is either tied off or temporarily cross-clamped with vascular clamps.

  • Patent number: 6142415
Abstract: A lighter than air lighting device is disclosed comprising a dual envelope balloon providing an inner, gastight, elastic, transparent, expandable polymeric envelope such as polyurethane, containing a lighter than air medium such as helium, and a replaceable lighting device such as a halogen or arc lamp. The helium thus functions to both elevate and cool the lighting device. The inner, transparent envelope is surrounded by an outer envelope such as a colored silk or nylon which functions as a diffuser to provide sufficient illumination without dazzling the user. The outer envelope may also be used to carry information and advertizing messages.

  • Patent number: 5951576
Abstract: The stapling device includes an anvil tube with a plurality of radially oriented and outwardly movable segmented arms and associated anvils mounted on the distal end of the segmented arms which are movable within an insertion space. The anvils are conically shaped which enable insertion into a vascular lumen over a guide wire. A staple pusher tube mounting staples at its distal end is mounted externally of the insertion tube. Prior to a stapling procedure, the distal end of the graft is attached to the anvils with a peel-off glue. When the segmented arms are pushed out into a stapling position inside a blood vessel, the anvils open outwardly due to elastic recoil of the segmented arms. The anvils are then stabilized in the stapling position by a centrally inserted expansion rod which is wedged into the core space of the segmented arms.

  • Patent number: 5927807
Abstract: A flexible, water bed pad support system for reclining chairs and the like. The water bed pad is attached to the chair and comprises a plurality of integrally connected, plastic cells containing water or a similar material such as a water mix solution. An orifice such as bleed valves and/or narrow pipe orifices are provided at the junction or connection areas between adjacent cells, and the bleed valves enable water movement between adjacent cells in response to variations in pressure changes when a person shifts on the chair. These pressure change responses result in the water bed pad to slowly conform to the body curvature of a person, and equalize the support under the chair.
