Patent number: 5670878Abstract: There is provided a transient electromagnetic method and apparatus for inspecting objects. The apparatus includes a sensing portion, which has a transmitting antenna and at least one receiving antenna thereon. The sensing portion is located adjacent to the object which is to be inspected such that the antennas are adjacent to the object. There is also a magnet located adjacent to the sensing portion. The magnet has poles located adjacent to the object, so as to provide a steady-state magnetic field to the object. By applying a steady-state magnetic field to the object during inspection, increased inspection speeds and improved spatial resolutions can be achieved. In addition, casing can be inspected from inside of tubing.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1993Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Atlantic Richfield CompanyInventors: Keith W. Katahara, Pedro F. Patent number: 4612876Abstract: An aquarium for maintaining fish or the like characterized by an upper transparent container means that has its side wall, bottom and a valve body integrally formed together to prevent leaks. The transparent container sits on a base. An air pump, air conduit, and air flow control valve are disposed out of sight interiorly of the base. The valve body contains the check valve and serves as an air inlet for bubbling air upwardly through the water at a controlled rate provided by the air flow control valve. The check valve prevents leaking back into the air inlet passageway in the event the power is interrupted and prevents leaking a substantial quantity in the event that the hose, or air conduit, is inadvertently disconnected. Also disclosed is a kit embodiment which is sold on the retail market in which all the elements are provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1985Date of Patent: September 23, 1986Assignee: Unique Gifts, Inc.Inventor: Donald J. Patent number: 4599554Abstract: An improvement in a constant current circuit comprising a metal oxide semi-conductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) integrated circuit (IC) for providing a feedback voltage indicative of current flow as a control parameter for either on-off mode or linear feedback mode. The improvement comprises the usual drain, gate and source terminals with an additional feedback terminal and dual, parallel connected FET's formed into the MOSFET IC and connected in parallel to the drain and gate terminals. One of the FET's is much larger and has a much greater current carrying capability than the second one and the second one is connected serially with a resistor, the juncture of the second field effect transistor and resistor being connected with the feedback terminal to give a voltage indicative of current flow at the drain terminal.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1984Date of Patent: July 8, 1986Assignee: Texet CorportionInventors: Jeffrey M. Patent number: 4585409Abstract: An improved heating torch having the usual fuel and oxygen passageways and valves for controlling the flow of the respective components, mixer for mixing fuel and oxygen, and tip for flowing the admixture exteriorly thereof for burning to heat a work piece or the like, the improvement being characterized by a multiple piece tip that is spring loaded such that one or more internals can be spring loaded to be retained within a shell that is affixed to an end piece of the tip. The end piece fastens to the end of an elbow connected with the mixer, and has the shell disposed about the end piece; and one or more tip internals are disposed inside and biased toward their normal assembled position by a spring or the like. Different sized heating tips are readily formed by simply adding internals and larger sized end pieces and shells to form one or more rings of grooves defined by splines that can be easily manufactured and assembled.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1984Date of Patent: April 29, 1986Assignee: Victor Equipment CompanyInventor: David A.
