  • Patent number: 8291502
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a data processor configured to obtain first content stored in a first information recording medium and second content which is stored in a second information recording medium and which is usable together with the first content, and to perform content playback processing by using the first content and the second content. The data processor calculates a hash value of a certificate stored in the first information recording medium, and verifies the calculated hash value against a hash value stored in a content certificate corresponding to the first content, and on the condition that the calculated hash value and the hash value stored in the content certificate coincide with each other, the data processor performs the content playback processing by using the first content and the second content.

  • Patent number: 8290180
Abstract: A signal processing device includes a bass signal extractor, a harmonic wave generator, a level detector, and an adjustment controller. The bass signal extractor first extracts a bass signal from an input audio signal. Natural-sounding bass enhancement is achieved as a result of the adjustment controller boosting the bass signal level until the level detector detects the bass signal level at a set level. For input bass signal levels higher than the set level, bass is enhanced virtually using a harmonic signal generated from the bass signal by the harmonic wave generator. As a result, the disadvantages of the boost method and the virtual signal enhancement method are mutually compensated for, and synergistic advantages for bass enhancement are obtained.

  • Patent number: 8287849
Abstract: Poly(?-amino esters) prepared from the conjugate addition of bis(secondary amines) or primary amines to a bis(acrylate ester) are described. Methods of preparing these polymers from commercially available starting materials are also provided. These tertiary amine-containing polymers are preferably biodegradable and biocompatible and may be used in a variety of drug delivery systems. Given the poly(amine) nature of these polymers, they are particularly suited for the delivery of polynucleotides. Nanoparticles containing polymer/polynucleotide complexes have been prepared. The inventive polymers may also be used to encapsulate other agents to be delivered. They are particularly useful in delivering labile agents given their ability to buffer the pH of their surroundings.

  • Patent number: 8284268
Abstract: An imaging apparatus acquires and displays an image of a subject such that a target subject remains displayed on a monitor even after performing an area zoom operation. An imaging unit acquires a subject image at a variable subject acquisition magnification and acquisition angle. A controller conducts an area zoom control such that, when a given area is specified as a sub-area of a predetermined image display region, the acquisition magnification and angle are modified to enlarge the given area. A limiting magnification is also set as the zoom magnification when the ratio of the dimensions of the predetermined display region with respect to the given area exceeds the limiting magnification. When the limiting magnification is not exceeded, the ratio of the dimensions is set as the zoom magnification.

  • Patent number: 8283456
Abstract: The present invention relates to triterpene glycoside saponin-derived adjuvants, syntheses thereof, intermediates thereto, and uses thereof. QS-7 is a potent immuno-adjuvant that is significantly less toxic than QS-21, a related saponin that is currently the favored adjuvant in anticancer and antiviral vaccines. Tedious isolation and purification protocols have hindered the clinical development of QS-7. A novel semi-synthetic method is provided wherein a hydrolyzed prosapogenin mixture is used to synthesize QS-7, QS-21, and related analogs, greatly facilitating access to QS-7 and QS-21 analogs for preclinical and clinical evaluation.
