  • Patent number: 5253704
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an improved diaphragm type mud saver valve, commonly referred to as a Kelley valve, which closes automatically to prevent loss and spilling of drilling mud. The improved valve can withstand very high drilling and pump pulsation pressures, for example, the pressures required for drilling wells over 20,000 feet in depth and mud pressures can exceed 15,000 p.s.i. The disclosure prevents the formation of gas pockets by providing gas escape openings and a clearance space between the support and backup element to prevent the extrusion of the diaphragm material through the small openings in a backup sleeve thus extending the life of the diaphragm and allowing proper diaphragm seating.

  • Patent number: 5143309
Abstract: The floor of a poultry rearing area is conditioned for reuse for raising a new batch of chicks, by revitalizing the litter and droppings on the floor of the area. This is accomplished by scraping the litter from the floor with an elongated blade, so that the litter is lifted upwardly into the path of a power driven rotatary pulverizer, which pulverizes the litter and droppings, and permits the so conditioned litter to fall back onto the floor for immediate reuse. The scraper blade is maintained at or slightly above the level of the floor by slide elements below the blade, as the litter is scraped, to avoid damage to the floor.

  • Patent number: 5136749
Abstract: The invention relates to a glass wiper blade having great suppleness and flexibility, particularly for very curved windows of vehicles such as automobiles. A secondary or intermediate yoke of a support assembly for the blade is provided with first and second sections that are pivoted to each other. The first section if pivoted to a supporting yoke and biased by an elastic means such that the blade can follow a window surface, even if extremely curved.

  • Patent number: 5127634
Abstract: A hydropneumatic suspension strut adapted to be connected between the chassis and a wheel of an automotive vehicle. The strut has a piston with a rod having an axial passage connected to a hydropneumatic accumulator, and slides in a cylinder. A hydraulic stop arrests the movement of the piston at the end of its inward or driving stroke. The hydraulic driving stop includes, fixed to the end of the cylinder, a pin for entering an axial opening in a moving valve contained in an interior recess of the piston in such a manner that there is progressive restriction of the flow of hydraulic fluid through the valve, to cushion and stop the piston.

  • Patent number: 5112089
Abstract: The invention has for an object a connector with rapid high pressure fastening, including a female element (1, 32 or 48) united to a connector organ and a male element (14, 24 or 40) fixed to a connector tube (15), including an O-ring seal (21 or 43) and a locking means (13 or 53).According to the invention, the demountable locking means is composed of an elastic retaining ring (13) or a pin (53) retained by grooves (20, 25) and the toric openings (7, 23, or 31) or the apertures (46, 54) of the male and female elements.

  • Patent number: 5079882
Abstract: A seal adapted to be mounted on an edge of an element such as, for example, a sheet metal panel or non-sliding glass of an automobile, and of the type comprising a sealing portion fixed to a channel or U-portion which can be engaged on the edge of the element, the seal comprising, at least one lip articulated to the channel and projecting into the interior of the channel, the lip having a portion for bearing elastically on a wall of the element, and of a profile in the form of an arc of a logarithmic spiral centered on a point of articulation of the lip on the channel, the sprial having a profile wherein the angle made by a radius vector of the spiral with the normal at the point of contact of the lip on the element is less than the angle of friction between the respective materials of the lip and the element.

  • Patent number: 5044412
Abstract: Apparatus for debarking logs comprising a generally horizontal rotary drum debarker having an inlet end, power drive device for continuously rotating the drum of the debarker generally about a horizontal axis, generally horizontal main conveyor element for conveying groups of tree length logs toward the drum, the main conveyor element having a discharge end below the axis of rotation of the drum, drive apparatus for continuously driving the main conveyor element, and auxiliary feed mechanism below the axis of rotation of the drum and between the discharge end of the main conveyor element and the inlet end of the drum for assisting the movement of groups of logs fed by the main conveyor element into the inlet end of the drum.

  • Patent number: 5040334
Abstract: The invention relates to an opening element of the body of an automotive vehicle comprising particularly a panel constituted by a metal part, and a plastic part having stiffening ribs and molded onto the metal part.According to the invention, the metal part (1) and the plastic material composite part (2) constitue an internal structural component (16) of a panel, the outside panel (24) being attached to this internal structural component (16), and in that the metal part (1) has an annular form of U shaped section toward the interior in which are molded the ribs (6) of the plastic part (2), these ribs being inside by the mounting points provided on the metal part (1).

  • Patent number: 5040318
Abstract: The invention relates to the fabrication of panels, trays and other assemblies from fibreboard or other sheet material by folding-back edge portions of the sheet to provide marginal portions of increased thickness and substantially uniform width of which the inner edges define retaining abutments, each marginal portion being located in a channel of respective channel-shaped edging strips each having a lip or rib which engages over and with the retaining abutment of the marginal portion to resist separation of the strip from the edge of the sheet in the direction perpendicular to said edge. The edging strips are assembled to an edge by forcing the channel over the marginal portion. Adjacent edging strips engage to resist sliding movement.
