    Abstract: An apparatus for melting and dispensing thermoplastic material is provided that includes an un-heated hopper having an inlet for receiving particles of a thermoplastic material and an outlet for discharging the particles and a heated manifold including at least one cavity formed therein and having an inlet and an outlet the inlet communicating with the outlet of the hopper for receipt of the particles from the hopper. The hopper is disposed external of the heated manifold. The heated manifold is effective for melting the particles into molten thermoplastic material therein. The apparatus further includes a pump having an inlet in fluid communication with the cavity. An outlet of the pump is in fluid communication with an inlet of a dispenser and an outlet of the dispenser is effective for dispensing the molten thermoplastic material therethrough.

    Abstract: A database engine and optimizer framework support creation of a series of profiling indices over a column having character string data, such as a traditional “varchar” data type. The profiling indices result in a reduction of the number of records that are searched when searching for a sub-string match within that column. In some embodiments, the series of indices are created over a column that is typically searched using the LIKE predicate or some similar technique; these indices indicate for each record whether certain sub-strings may exist in that record's value in the column. Thus, the indices are used to find the rows that may match one or more portions of the particular term being queried or, in other words, eliminate those records that do not have at least a portion of the term to be matched. The number of records actually retrieved and searched for the query sub-string is thereby reduced.

In particular, by compressing at least a portion of the data in a cache line, additional space may be freed up in the cache line to embed prefetch history data associated with the data in the cache line. By doing so, long-lived prefetch history data may essentially be embedded in a cache line and retrieved in association with that cache line to initiate the prefetching of additional data that is likely to be accessed based upon historical data generated for that cache line, and often with no little or no additional storage overhead.

By doing so, memory access requests for the memory address range, which would normally be directed to the active memory device, may instead be directed to the redundant memory device, thus enabling the active memory device to be tested (e.g., via writing and reading test data patterns to the active memory device) without interrupting system access to that memory address range.

    Abstract: A memory cache sequencer circuit manages the operation of a memory cache and cache buffer so as to efficiently forward memory contents being delivered to the memory cache via the cache buffer, to a multithreading processor awaiting return of those memory contents. The sequencer circuit predicts the location of the memory contents that the processor is awaiting, and speculatively forwards memory contents from either the cache buffer or memory cache, while simultaneously verifying that the speculatively forwarded memory contents were correctly forwarded. If the memory contents were incorrectly forwarded, the sequencer circuit issues a signal to the processor receiving the speculatively forwarded memory contents to ignore the forwarded memory contents. This speculative forwarding process may be performed, for example, when a memory access request is received from the processor, or whenever memory contents are delivered to the cache buffer after a cache miss.

    Abstract: A quilting machine is provided having at least one set of single needle stitch forming elements for forming chain stitched patterns on a thick multilayered material such as a mattress cover. The machine is preferably web-fed, with a panel of the continuous web being clamped and held stationary on a frame. The stitch forming elements include a needle and a looper mounted on separate heads that are independently moveable on a bridge transversely relative to the panel, which is moveable longitudinally relative to the frame. The bridge is longitudinally moved by a servo and the heads are transversely moved on the bridge by separate servos. The stitching elements on each head are driven by separate servos. A controller drives the servos to chain stitch patterns and differentially move the heads transversely to account for transverse needle deflection. The drives of the needle and looper are phased to compensate for longitudinal needle deflection. The controller determines or predicts needle deflection.

The material produces a structurally superior paving material and longer lived roadbed. The plastic may include any and all residual classes of recyclable plastic, including thermosetting plastics and other plastics having little to no current widespread utility. The material produces roadbeds of higher strength with less total asphalt thickness and having greater water impermeability, and is most useful for all layers below the surface layer. The recyclable plastic component of the material is preferably a mixture of all recyclable classes 3 through 7, or of those materials from such classes from which potentially more valuable recyclable materials have been selectively removed.

    Abstract: An apparatus for efficiently heating a wafer within a CVD environment isolates the heating element of the apparatus from the CVD environment and includes a susceptor body defining a sealed space therein for containing the heating element and a surface coupled to the heating element for supporting and heating the wafer. The susceptor space is sealed from the CVD environment and is vacuumed to a first pressure. Heating gas is delivered through a space extending through the susceptor body which is sealed from the susceptor space containing the heating element and is vacuumed to a second pressure which is preferably less than the CVD reaction pressure to vacuum clamp a wafer to the susceptor. The heating gas delivery space is formed by an elongated sheath surrounding a hollow wafer lift tube and the sheath is sealed at one end to the backplane of the susceptor and at the other end to the tube. The wafer lift tube moves up and down within the sheath to lift a wafer.

The rear portion of an assembly of modules is enclosed by a shroud formed of a plurality of foraminous metal plates. The multiple modules are joined together by mating pins and sockets with an assembly being tied together by a frame around the front end of the assembly.
