  • Patent number: 7674636
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to control the radial or non-radial temperature distribution across a substrate during processing to compensate for non-uniform effects, including radial and angular non-uniformities arising from system variations, or process variations, or both. The temperature is controlled, preferably dynamically, by flowing backside gas differently across different areas on a wafer supporting chuck to vary heat conduction across the wafer. Backside gas flow, of helium, for example, is dynamically varied across the chuck to control the uniformity of processing of the wafer. Ports in the support are grouped, and gas to or from the groups is separately controlled by different valves responsive to a controller that controls gas pressure in each of the areas to spatially and preferably dynamically control wafer temperature to compensate for system and process non-uniformities.

  • Patent number: 7670629
Abstract: Bacterial infections in cattle and sheep are treated by applying a solution of zinc chloride to the hooves of the animals. Preferably, the solution is applied to the hooves by placing the solution in a foot bath and guiding the animals through the foot bath. The spent solution can then be mixed with manure and applied to the fields. The zinc acts as a micronutrient.

  • Patent number: 7661942
Abstract: The present invention provides for an improved device for molding keyhole sipes larger in size, i.e. sipes having a wider passage, than currently being formed in treads that will avoid damaging the tread during formation and removal thereof from a mold. The device includes an elongated deformable body member having a blade extending in a direction away therefrom and substantially along the length thereof. The body member also includes a stiffening member securely fixed in position therein that extends substantially the length thereof. The stiffening member provides a desired rigidity to the deformable body member, thereby limiting flexion along its length under the stress of a rubber formulation when the mold is closed during the molding process. Also, the deformable body member provides low stress on the tread when a slit of the keyhole sipe is pulled around the body member during removal of the tread from a mold.

  • Patent number: 7661544
Abstract: A boat is provided for stacking semiconductor wafers vertically in processes in which low friction deposits may coat wafer supporting surfaces. In carbon processes, for example, low friction coatings can form that allow the wafers to slip sideways in the boat, leaving them sufficiently out of alignment to cause wafer breakage in handling. Typical boats for these processes having vertical legs, typically three or four in number, in which aligned notches support each of the wafers. The slots provide enough clearance around the edge of the wafer to facilitate loading and unloading of the wafers without wafer damage, as long as the wafers remain centered. For low friction process environments, each notch is provided with a shallow recess on which the edge of a wafer can rest. The recess adds a low step close to the wafer edge that resists horizontal sliding movement of the wafer. Wafers are loaded by inserting them into the boat in a plane spaced above the steps, then lowered onto the recesses.

  • Patent number: 7662330
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards the use of low levels of a desiccant material in a rubber compound, such as for use as a tire tread, that allows for reduced cure times of tires cured under pressure, thereby increasing tire production. The low level of desiccant material reduces the blow point of the rubber compound by substantially eliminating blows earlier in the pressure curing process, thereby allowing for the reduced cure time of the tire under pressure. In one embodiment, low levels of no greater than about 9 phr of desiccant material, which may include generally a metal oxide (e.g. calcium oxide or magnesium oxide), are provided in the rubber compound. The rubber compound including the low levels of desiccant material may be cured, under pressure, at less than 30% of full cure of the rubber compound.

  • Patent number: 7662883
Abstract: The present invention is directed to rubbery block polymers containing a polylactone, such as polycaprolactone, methods of making the same, and to rubber compounds containing those block polymers. The rubbery block polymer is an anionically polymerized block polymer defined by A-B, wherein A includes at least one type of polymerized conjugated diene monomer, a polymerized vinyl aromatic monomer, or a mixture thereof and wherein B is a polylactone, such as polycaprolactone, which is hydroxy terminated. The rubbery block polymer may be compounded so to provide, for example, a tire tread with desirable properties for use in an automobile tire. Such rubber compound, for example, can include the rubbery block polymer, an organosilane coupling agent, such as a bis(trialkoxysilyl) alkane, bis(trialkoxysilylalkyl) polysulfide, or mixtures thereof, and silica filler in specified amounts.

  • Patent number: 7658568
Abstract: An applicator for applying a liquid composition to a work surface. The applicator includes a bottle, a cap detachably mounted on a neck projecting from the bottle and a cover that extends over the cap and an upper portion of the bottle. The cap has and inclined surface with a multi-layer polishing pad mounted thereon. The pad has a cloth outer layer overlying a compressible, preferably foam, under layer. The pad has a central aperture exposing the end of a valve stem. Pressing the pad against the work surface opens a normally closed valve dispensing the liquid in the bottle onto work surface. The valve stem moves reciprocally along a path generally perpendicular an inclined surface on the cap on which the pad is mounted.

  • Patent number: 7655215
Abstract: An apparatus designed to form syn gas from carbonaceous materials such as coal includes a devolatilization reactor in combination with a reformer reactor which subsequently forms syn gas. The reformer reactor, in turn, is in communication with a particulate separator. The devolatilization reactor is fed with material using a compression feeder which drives air from the feed material, compresses it in a feed zone forming a seal between the feed hopper and the devolatilization reactor. The reformer reactor, as well as the particulate separators, are maintained in a heated furnace so that the temperature of the formed syn gas does not decrease below the reaction temperature until particulate material has been separated.

  • Patent number: 7647885
Abstract: A liquid dispensing module and nozzle or die tip for discharging at least one liquid filament. The nozzle includes a strand guide for guiding a substrate past the nozzle and a frustoconical protrusion disposed on a surface of the nozzle adjacent the notch. A liquid discharge passage extends along an axis through the frustoconical protrusion and forms an acute angle with a machine direction corresponding to movement of the strand past the nozzle. Four air discharge passages are positioned at the base of the frustoconical protrusion. Each of the air discharge passages is angled in a compound manner generally toward the liquid discharge passage and offset from the axis of the liquid discharge passage to create the controlled pattern of liquid material on the strand.
