Patent number: 7740131Abstract: A case for maintaining insignia and other articles associated with a uniform includes an outer cover and an inner surface, and is configured to fold about a center fold. The case includes an inner panel for attaching and carrying uniform articles and an inner pouch for carrying loose items. The flap and the pouch are each attached along one side to the inner surface of the case near the center fold. The case has a plurality of inner attachment surfaces, which includes the inner surface of the case, the side surfaces of the panel, and the outer surfaces of the pouch. At least one of the attachment surfaces includes a section having hook and loop fasteners to engage uniform badges having hook and loop fasteners. Additionally, at least one of the attachment surfaces includes foam backing configured to receive at least one uniform pin.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2007Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Inventor: Dennis Marcello

Patent number: 7731900Abstract: The present invention concerns a body fluid testing device (10) for analyzing a body fluids, comprising a test media tape (30) adapted to collect the body fluid, a supply portion (100) storing an uncontaminated section of the test media tape, a storage portion (110) for storing a contaminated section of the test media tape, an exposure portion positioned between the supply portion and the storage portion, the exposure portion being adapted to expose a section of the test media tape to the body fluid. An important aspect is a tip portion (20) for exposing a test medium to body fluid application. The application further concerns a test media cassette for housing test media. Another aspect is a testing device and method that employs illumination of a test medium at the site for body fluid application.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2005Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: Roche Diagnostics Operations, Inc.Inventors: Hans-Peter Haar, Joachim Hoenes, Hans List, Maria Manser, Karl Miltner, Rudolf Pachl, Volker Zimmer

Patent number: 7547401Abstract: Piezoelectric compositions of the formula Pb(1-z)Mz(Mg1/3Nb2/3)x(ZryTi1-y)1-xO3 where M can be either Sr or Ba or both, x is between about 0.35 and about 0.40, y is between about 0.36 and about 0.42, and z is between about 0.04 and about 0.08. The piezoelectric ceramic is provided as a composite perovskite structure. Additional materials or dopants can be added to the piezoelectric ceramic of the present invention. Example of dopants that can be added to the piezoelectric ceramic include, but are not limited to: MnO2, Ni2O3, TeO3, TeO2, MoO3, Nb2O5, Ta2O5, CoCO3, and Y2O3. The piezoelectric ceramics of the present invention can be used to fabricate piezoelectric elements for a wide variety of devices that can be fabricated to exhibit high power applications including miniaturized displacement elements, buzzers, transducers, ultrasonic sensors and ultrasonic generators, and the like.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2006Date of Patent: June 16, 2009Assignee: Piezotech, LLCInventor: De Liufu

Patent number: 7465490Abstract: The invention relates to an adsorbing material (1) with a protective function against chemical toxins, especially chemical warfare agents, the adsorbing material (1) comprising a multilayered layer construction (2), the layer construction (2) comprising at least one in particular sheetlike carrier layer (3) and, associated to the carrier layer (3), a barrier layer (4) which prevents or at least retards the passage of chemical poisons, the barrier layer (4) comprising on the one hand at least one adsorbing layer (5) based on an adsorbent for chemical poisons and especially on activated carbon, and, on the other hand, at least one at least essentially water and air impervious but water vapor pervious membrane (6) which retards the passage of chemical poisons or is at least essentially impervious to chemical poisons. The adsorbing material (1) has a high wear comfort, in particular good breathability, while at the same time having excellent protection against chemical poisons.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2004Date of Patent: December 16, 2008Assignee: Blucher GmbHInventor: Hasso Von Blücher

Patent number: 7400487Abstract: A tunable and aimable artificial lightning producing device for tetanizing human voluntary muscle, disabling vehicular electronic ignition systems, and for pre-detonating wired explosives. A spark gap shaping apparatus controls a spark generated by a Tesla coil. A first stage directionalizer warps a normally spherical plasma field from the Tesla coil into an oval plasma field for confining the spark to within that shape. A second stage directionalizer converges multiple beams to successive points just ahead of a plasma field created by the first stage directionalizer without ionizing the beams, thereby maintaining ionization of a path of the spark. The spark is progressively arced to these points, thereby maintaining the path of the spark.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2005Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Inventor: Peter V. Bitar

Patent number: 6969359Abstract: Body fluid is sampled from a skin incision by placing a ring against the skin and repeatedly applying an elastic pressing force to the ring, whereby a stimulator surface of the ring depresses a ring of skin and body tissue in surrounding relationship to the incision to force body fluid from the incision. The stimulator surface is inclined at an angle of 10 to 65 degrees; a width of the stimulator surface is from 5 mm to 20 mm, and an inner diameter of the stimulator surface is no less than 6.0 mm.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2002Date of Patent: November 29, 2005Assignee: Roche Diagnostics Operations, Inc.Inventors: Brent G. Patent number: 6904886Abstract: A method is disclosed for positioning the crankshaft of an engine. The method comprises the steps of providing a first hole in the flywheel, providing a hole in a stationary part of the engine to line up accurately with the hole in the flywheel once during each crankshaft revolution, manually cranking the engine until the holes in the flywheel and the engine are aligned, and inserting a pin into the aligned holes to lock the crankshaft in a predetermined angular position.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2003Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Assignee: Cummins Engine Company, Ltd.Inventor: Romeo Capodiferro
