  • Patent number: 4597209
Abstract: A changeable display device comprising a support member created out of a plurality of parallel rails forming display channels and said rails being attached together by cross members. Oppositely colored rows of back plates are mounted to said rails. Display elements are rotatably mounted in an array in said display channels having opposite display sides. The display elements are rotated into either a first display orientation or second display orientation so that cooperating with said back plates a display may be formed. Each of the display elements has a camming member with a camming surface and elbow portions adjacent one of the rails and a C-shaped spring is disposed in a spring housing attached to the rails adjacent said camming member. The C-shaped spring is deformed by the action of the camming member and thus exerts a force against the camming member.

  • Patent number: 4596726
Abstract: An ornament including a plurality of hoops having fabric mounted therein. The hoops are arranged so that the plane of each hoop intersects the plane of the remaining hoops. Various embodiments are disclosed wherein the external geometric configuration of the hoops and the quantity of hoops is varied. Further, a variety of fabric patterns are attached to the hoops. In one embodiment, two pieces of fabric are joined together at their centerline with the centerline the being positioned in line with the inner intersection of two hoops. The outer edge of one fabric is then attached to a hoop while extending through the plane of the hoop to the intersection hoop line and then outwardly with the opposite edges of the fabric attached to the remaining hoop. The second fabric is attached in like fashion to the two remaining portions of the hoops not having fabric attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 4592388
Abstract: A connector assembly for connecting a faucet body to a swivel spout. The connector assembly comprises a spout hub fixedly attached to the spout, a spout socket fixedly connected to the faucet body and rotatably received within a through passageway in the spout socket, and a resilient flexible lock ring disposed between the spout hub and spout socket. The lock ring integrally comprises a collar extending at least partially around the spout hub and a pin projecting outwardly from the collar. The lock ring collar is normally inwardly flexed and urges against the interior of the spout socket. The spout socket is provided with a side opening which receives the lock ring pin under urging from the collar. Interference contact between the spout socket and the pin within the side opening serves to limit longitudinal movement of the spout hub inside the spout socket.

  • Patent number: 4590519
Abstract: An in-band television signal sync suppression scrambling system has two sync suppression modes which are aperiodically alternated. Horizontal and vertical synchronizing pulses are equally suppressed in one mode, and are suppressed to different levels in a dual modulus mode. In single modulus mode, horizontal and vertical sync pulses are both suppressed at 6 dB. In the dual modulus mode, sync suppression is dynamically shifted between 10 db suppression for horizontal sync pulses and 6 db for the vertical interval. Mode control data is conveyed on the audio carrier and is detected by decoding circuitry which enables the restoration of synchronization pulses in the scrambled television signal according to the mode indicated. Mode changes are aperiodically changed depending upon the scene content in the TV picture or a random generator.

  • Patent number: 4588103
Abstract: A closure and boss combination for providing an internally threaded outlet in a drum end includes a raised metal boss formed in the drum end and configured with a pair of concentric axially extending annular walls connected by an annular ring-shaped top surface. Securely crimped within the raised metal boss is a synthetic material closure which includes an internal series of threads surrounded by a crimping flange which includes on its outer diameter surface a series of serrations configured with alternating recesses and protruding portions. The flange includes an interior support surface which is substantially concentric with the outer surface of the serrations and the inner, axially extending wall portion of the boss is contiguous with this inner support surface in order to provide back-up support and preclude close-in of the closure and distortion of the closure threads during the crimping operation and during subsequent stress-inducing operations such as exposure to high-temperature sources.

  • Patent number: 4589075
Abstract: A load management system for a power network which both addresses remote load controllers and acquires load data through a retransmission network. A central controller processes power load a data and generates digital messages which address loads and command the selective connection and disconnection of loads. The central controller transmits the generated digital messages via radio frequency transmissions. Programmable retransmission stations receive, decode and directionally retransmit the digital messages. Addressable remote load controllers receive and decode transmitted digital messages and operate to connect and disconnect loads in response to command messages received by the addressed load controllers. Addressable data acquisition units sense loads at points in the power network and operate to generate digital load data messages.

  • Patent number: 4582718
Abstract: An apparatus and method is detailed for the application of non-conductive material, generally of a powder or fine fiber form from bulk storage onto a conductive filament or plurality of filaments. A series of vibrating troughs are used to store, convey, unpack and load particulate material at a controllable rate into a gas stream traversing a converging-diverging nozzle. High aerodynamic shear in the nozzle reduces the material's size. Divergent nozzle exit geometry slows the material to speeds where electrostatic forces can predominate, as the material is injected upwardly into a chamber fitted with a cascade of conical forms. Each cone is electrified about its circumference in one or more locations, with respect to a centrally located upward moving filament. Conventional electrostatic charging and deposition on the filament is augmented by the convergent geometry of the cones. Excess material falls on the outside of the cones, and eventually downward to a recovery area.
