Abstract: In a heat generator of the invention in which a drive shaft 8 is made of an iron-type metal, a rotor 9 includes a main rotor body 9a made of an aluminum-type metal for shearing a silicone oil SO and a bush 9b made of an iron-type metal inserted in the main rotor body 9a and secured to the drive shaft 8 while being positioned in contact with the inner race 7a of a bearing device 7. The main rotor body 9a has at least a gap &Dgr; relative to the inner race 7a of the bearing device 7, and is permitted to undergo thermal expansion.

Abstract: Conjugated compounds which comprises an ST receptor binding moiety and a radiostable active moiety are disclosed. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent, and a conjugated compound which comprises an ST receptor binding moiety and a radiostable active moiety or an ST receptor binding moiety and a radioactive active moiety are disclosed. Abstract: A trefoil for a rotary kiln is provided that has at least three spoke-like refractory legs. Each one of the legs extends radially outwardly from a center of the trefoil; spans approximately from the kiln shell to the center of the kiln; is pre-formed outside of the kiln for installation as a single-leg unit; and has a mating surface that preferably is uniform and even, thereby lacking interlocking features. The mating surfaces of the legs abut one another at the kiln center to provide mutual support. An alignment member, such as a pair of longitudinal angles, are welded to the kiln shell to position the legs. A corresponding method of installing the trefoil is disclosed that includes positioning and shimming the first two legs at the 4 o'clock position and 8 o'clock position, and installing the third leg at the 12 o'clock position.

Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for modulating the expression of protein kinase C. Oligonucleotides are provided which are targeted to nucleic acids encoding PKC. The oligonucleotides contain a methoxyethoxy (--O--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OCH.sub.3) modification at the 2' position of at least one nucleotide. Methods of inhibiting PKC expression and methods of treating conditions associated with expression of PKC using oligonucleotides of the invention are disclosed.

Abstract: Compositions comprising meta-benzylic compounds are prepared. The compositions are useful as antibacterial and as other pharmaceutical agents and as intermediates for preparation of other pharmaceutical agents. In addition, compositions of the present invention are useful as research reagents.
