  • Patent number: 3997438
Abstract: Gelatinous sludge agglomerations resulting from the clarification of raw water is separated from the raw water and is then treated with lime in an amount required to react with the gelatinous sludge and produce a filterable sludge in water. The filterable sludge is settled in the water carrying the same and is then separated therefrom and passed through filter means to separate solids from liquid.

  • Patent number: 3995612
Abstract: A plate-like corner bracket extends alongside end portions of adjacent horizontal and vertical panels which surround a fireplace outwardly of the opening therefor. Improved means secures the corner bracket to end portions of adjacent panels to connect adjacent panels to each other and adjustable retaining means on the corner bracket carries an adjustable projecting member which engages an inner portion of the fireplace opening.

  • Patent number: 3985186
Abstract: A plant guard for a cultivator having cultivator elements mounted on a horizontal rotating shaft. The guard comprises a U-shaped member, as viewed in plan, having a vertical, plate-like base which extends transversely of the direction of travel and is connected to rearwardly extending side members which extend alongside and are pivotally connected to opposite ends of the shaft. Downward movement of the base member is limited with the base member being movable to selected vertical positions.

  • Patent number: 3981173
Abstract: Conduit bending apparatus embodying a bending unit having a movable shoe spaced from conduit engaging members. The bending unit is pivotally connected to an upstanding member which is carried by an elongated guide. Resilient means holds the upstanding member at selected elevations relative to the guide member. Elongated end members are pivoted to end portions of the guide members and depend therefrom for angular movement to selected positions relative to the guide member. An elongated conduit support member extends between and is pivotally connected to the end members to support a conduit at selected elevations in response to angular movement of the end members.

  • Patent number: 3964038
Abstract: A wind indicator comprising a movable arm supported at one end and carrying a vertically extending cylindrical portion in spaced relation to said one end. An actuator having a round flat surface is carried by said one end of the arm and is movable to selected positions in response to a predetermined increase in wind velocity to move the cylindrical portion laterally. A member having a flat surface in contact with the round flat surface of the actuator supports the actuator for rocking movement in response to pivotal movement of the arm in any direction. The actuator is operatively connected to a warning device to actuate the same upon lateral movement of the cylindrical portion.

  • Patent number: 3963114
Abstract: A conveyor belt drive assembly embodying a supporting frame extending transversely of the belt. A pair of transverse drive axles mounted in the supporting frame are spaced from each other in the direction of belt travel. Drive wheels on the drive axles engage the under surfaces of the edges of the upper strand of the belt and the upper surfaces of the edges of the lower strand. A resiliently mounted rotatable support engages the under surfaces of the edges of the lower strand opposite the drive wheels with the lower strand pinched therebetween. A floating frame operatively connected to the supporting frame is movable relative thereto. Upper wheels carried by transverse axles on the floating frame engage the upper surfaces of the edges of the upper strand opposite the drive wheels with the upper strand pinched therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3960991
Abstract: A rotary aerator is mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis and has a plurality of agitator elements formed integrally with hub segments to provide generally star-shaped members which extend radially from the circumference of the aerator along the length thereof for introducing air or other gases into waste water or other fluids.

  • Patent number: 3957224
Abstract: A fishing line spool is supported on a rod while line is transferred to a reel also supported by the rod. The holder comprises a flexible webbing folded on itself and about the rod with side portions thereof adapted to extend along opposite sides of the spool which is supported by a transverse pin extending through openings in said side portions. Detachable means connects said side portions to each other above and below the spool.

  • Patent number: 3954287
Abstract: A holder is provided for a writing pad having a binding strip extending around and lapping over the top of the pad. A cover for the holder has a front portion extending over the binding strip and the upper side of the pad. A first flap formed integrally with the cover extends over the binding strip and terminates adjacent a free edge of the binding strip. A second flap formed integrally with the first flap extends beneath and in a reverse direction to the first flap with a portion of the binding strip therebetween. A laterally projecting member is carried by the ends of the second flap and a cut-away portion in the cover superjacent the binding strip receives both flaps upon movement of the cover into engagement with the pad.

  • Patent number: 3941701
Abstract: The upper flight of an endless filter belt is supported by a backing sheet as it passes through a feeding and initial partial dewatering zone. The upper flight of the filter belt then passes through a main dewatering zone while being subjected to pressure in a direction to force liquid therethrough. Drainage slots in the upper surface of the backing sheet extend at an angle to the direction of travel of the upper flight and leave narrow strips between adjacent slots which engage the under surface of the upper flight.
