  • Patent number: 6658880
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for depolluting combustion gases set along the exhaust line of the gases. The device has a gas cooling chamber (9, 10) lowering the gas temperature to near 0 degrees Celsius. In one particular embodiment of the invention, the energy of the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine is used for providing the cold required for the depollution process.

  • Patent number: 6659056
Abstract: A valvetrain with a single camshaft is disclosed. The valvetrain has one or more intake valves, and one or more exhaust valves per cylinder of an engine block. The valvetrain comprises a cylinder head. The valve head of each intake valve is removably seated within a corresponding intake valve seat of the cylinder head, and the stem of each intake valve is movably positioned within the cylinder head. The valve head of each exhaust valve is removably seated within a corresponding exhaust valve seat of the cylinder head, and the stem of each exhaust valve is movably positioned with the cylinder head. For each cylinder, an intake crosshead and an exhaust crosshead are pivotally mounted upon the cylinder head. Each intake crosshead is operatively mounted upon the stem top of a corresponding intake valve. Each exhaust crosshead is operatively mounted upon the stem top of a corresponding exhaust valve. For each cylinder, an intake rocker arm and an exhaust rocker arm are pivotally coupled to the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 6655462
Abstract: Apparatus which can collect loose debris, particularly ferrous debris, has a body 2 with upper 3 and lower 4 stabiliser sleeve. The body 2 has a one or more integral magnets or magnetic areas 5. In one embodiment the magnets are located in a first and second row on a split sleeve 6 and are covered by a protective stainless steel sleeve7. The apparatus may alternatively comprise magnetic scraper blades or a magnetic sub. The magnets are selectively activated. There is also described a method of trapping or retaining debris in a well bore.

  • Patent number: 6655648
Abstract: An air conditioning or heat pump condenser assembly has a base mounted on a molded plastic pad. The pad is mounted on four, auger-type stabilizer rods screwed into the ground. Nuts threaded onto upper ends of the rods in recesses in the top of the pad, fix the pad to the rods. The condenser assembly base is positioned on the pad to cover the nuts on the stabilizer rods to make the nuts inaccessible once the condenser base is in place on the pad. Vibration isolators are disposed between the pad and the base. A portion of the pad, usually centrally located thereon, is provided with extra thickness to receive security screws installed from above through the base of the condenser assembly and into the pad. The security screws are a thread cutting type enabling installation by the installer at a plurality of possible locations above the security area, some or all of which may be obscured enough by equipment on the condenser base to obscure and delay or prevent removal thereof by a thief.

  • Patent number: 6648916
Abstract: An interbody osteogenic fusion device (10) is provided that includes opposite end pieces (11, 12) with an integral central element (13). The end pieces (11, 12) are sized to maintain the height of an intervertebral disc space (S). The central element (13) has a much smaller diameter (D2) so that the osteogenic fusion device (10) forms an annular pocket (24) around the central element (13). An osteogenic material (30) is disposed within the annular pocket (24) between the opposite end pieces (11, 12). In one embodiment, the osteogenic material (30) constitutes a collagen sheet (30) soaked in a solution containing a bone morphogenetic protein (BMP). The osteogenic fusion device (10) is configured so that the osteogenic material (30) is in direct contact with the adjacent vertebral bone (V1, V2).

  • Patent number: 6582573
Abstract: An electrochemical test device is provided for determining the presence or concentration of an analyte in an aqueous fluid sample. The electrochemical test device includes a working electrode and a counter electrode made of an amorphous semiconductor material. The working electrode is overlaid with a reagent capable of reacting with an analyte to produce a measurable change in potential which can be correlated to the concentration of the analyte in the fluid sample. The test device optionally contains a reference electrode made of an amorphous semiconductor material having a reference material on the reference electrode.
