The engaging lever is positioned through an aperture in an upper portion of the stock and comprises a body extending from a head to a locking tab. The body also includes a release notch in a central portion. The body is positioned within the locking notch when the buttplate assembly is in a closed position and the body is removed from the locking notch when the engaging lever is rotated into a release position.
