Patent number: 4664414Abstract: An automatic latch device for a runner member used in an automatic seat belt system includes a restraining member movably mounted to the runner member and provided with a restraining portion for meshing with a brake member provided on a vehicle body. The restraining member is moved to a non-meshing position by a drive force of a driving member, which is operatively connected to the restraining member, for driving the runner member between a seat occupant restraining position and a seat occupant liberating position, whereby the coupling between the runner member and the brake member may be automatically released substantially simultaneously with the start of the driving of the driving member without needing to move the brake member.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1982Date of Patent: May 12, 1987Assignee: Nippon Seiko K.K.Inventor: Yoshihiro Yokote

Patent number: 4593981Abstract: A bifocal contact lens having a curved anterior (outside) surface and a curved posterior (inside) surface is formed from a lens blank. The lens corrects for near vision, for example, of a presbyope, by a full-hemisphere spherical depression (seg) in the center of the posterior surface which becomes filled with tear liquid. The ring-like peripheral area, beyond the depression, at the posterior surface, has a curvature which matches the cornea of the wearer and permits a gap for tear liquid flow, the curvature of the peripheral area having a larger radius than the radius of the depression. The ring-like zone formed by the junction of the depression and the peripheral area is smoothed by a velveteen cloth polishing operation to form a transparent curved zone which permits near, far and intermediate distance viewing by the wearer through the center of the lens and without movement of the lens on the cornea.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1983Date of Patent: June 10, 1986Assignee: Master Contact Lens Labs Inc.Inventor: Joseph F. Scilipoti

Patent number: 4489033Abstract: A process for injection compression molding ultra high molecular weight polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity of 3 dl/g or higher measured at 135.degree. C. in decalin and a melt index of 0.01 g/10 min or less comprises,(a) heating the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene to 170.degree.-240.degree. C.,(b) adjusting the volume of the mold cavity V.sub.1 equal to the volume of the molded article V.sub.0,(c) injecting ultra high molecular weight polyethylene having a volume V.sub.0 into the mold cavity through a runner portion at a shear rate of at least 20,000 sec.sup.-1,(d) instantaneously expanding the mold cavity to adjust its volume V.sub.1 to satisfy the relation:1.2 V.sub.0 .ltoreq.V.sub.1at a time from T.sub.1 (immediately before completion of injection) and a time T.sub.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1982Date of Patent: December 18, 1984Assignee: Mitsui Petrochemical IndustriesInventors: Naotake Uda, Yasuo Kouno, Tadayoshi Shiomura

Patent number: 4487748Abstract: In an exhaust gas scrubber having a plurality of absorption sections which are supplied with a chemical liquid for gas-liquid contacting, fresh liquid for makeup use is supplied to the section closest to the gas outlet and then is mixed gradually with the liquid being recycled to the section on the gas inlet side of the vessel, whereby the process permits exhaust gases with saturation humidity at temperatures of 75.degree. C. or upwards to be treated effectively with but a limited drainage of water.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1982Date of Patent: December 11, 1984Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshio Onojima, Kenichi Yoneda, Yoshihiko Kamimura, Akira Shimada, Masahiko Noguchi

Patent number: 4374812Abstract: A wet process for stack gas treatment wherein the stack gas is scrubbed with a suspension containing calcium hydroxide and/or calcium carbonate to remove sulfur oxides from the gas, characterized in that(1) air or oxygen-containing gas is supplied to the gas scrubber so as to oxidize at least 18% of the sulfur oxides absorbed by the scrub liquid to gypsum, and then part of the gypsum from the gypsum-containing scrub liquid partly taken out is recycled to the scrubber, or(2) part or whole of the scrub liquid is taken out from the scrubber into an oxidizer, where it is oxidized with the supply of air or oxygen-containing gas, and, after the oxidation, part of the scrub liquid from the oxidizer is recycled to the scrubber, whereby at least 18% of the sulfur oxides absorbed from the gas by the scrub liquid is oxidized to gypsum.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1980Date of Patent: February 22, 1983Assignee: Mitsubishi Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masumi Atsukawa, Naoharu Shinoda, Atsushi Tatani, Taku Shimizu
