Abstract: Classes of compounds that exhibit effective inhibition of autotaxin enzymes are provided. Such classes include naphthalenesulfones, phenylsulfones, and certain peptides with unnatural amino acids and exhibit reactivity with autotaxin to ultimately reduce the size of the reactive sites thereon to prevent conversion of lysophosphatidyl choline to lysophophatidic acid. Furthermore, such compounds can be incorporated within delivery forms for human ingestion. As such, these compounds accord an excellent manner of potentially reducing generation of certain cancers attributable to the presence of naturally occurring autotaxin within the human body. Methods of inactivating autotaxin to certain degrees therewith such compounds are encompassed within invention as well.

Abstract: Separating trihalomethanes from drinking water samples (via a process such as capillary membrane sampling, and the like) followed by gas chromatograph analysis to determine quantity measurements and species identification of such trihalomethane (THM4) contaminants therein is provided. With the necessity to chlorinate drinking water to remove harmful bacteria and other potential toxins, trihalomethane byproducts are generated that may harm humans after consumption as well due to suspect carcinogenicity of such compounds. A reliable manner of measuring such drinking water supplies for such THM4 contaminants at locations far from the source and closer to dispensers is highly desirable.

Abstract: A tight, insulating enclosure for a rifle or shotgun is provided. Such an enclosure envelops the wooden stock and other wooden portions of a suitable firearm, at least, to protect the wooden surfaces thereof during storage, transportation, and utilization. The enclosure itself contains rubberized foam components to impart insulation around the wooden portions as protection against hard and/or extended surfaces that may bump, scratch, dent, or otherwise disfigure the wooden portions of a rifle or shotgun. Furthermore, the enclosure is of a single construction with suitable cut-out portions for movable parts, such as a trigger, a clip, a scope, and the like and is secured around the target firearm in a tight-fitting fashion in order to protect the noted surfaces, as well as provide shock absorption during firing. In such a manner, the enclosure permits access at all times to the necessary movable components while ensuring a snug fit around the delicate portions of the rifle or shotgun.
Abstract: A self-propelled apparatus for the seaming of roof assemblies for a building structure, wherein the apparatus includes multiple belt components configured parallel to one another around the same set of horizontal rollers for the alignment of panel edges in order for engagement of such horizontal rollers to perform the seaming procedure is provided. Such an apparatus exhibits a greatly reduced propensity for potentially marring, distorting, or otherwise misaligning the panel edges due to uniform pressures exerted on the target panel surfaces during use. In addition, the inventive multiple belt-drive apparatus exhibits a much lower potential for slippage during use than an apparatus utilizing multiple rollers to apply proper force during a seaming operation.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the detection of dental caries on the surface of a remaining tooth present underneath a crown are provided. Such an inventive concept involves the utilization of a proper electrically conductive pathway from the crown exterior to the tooth itself, allowing for impedance measurements to be undertaken to determine the degree of potential demineralization within the tooth and/or adhesive loss at the tooth/crown interface, all due to decay attributable to dental caries or like problems. In such a manner, a measuring electrode may be applied to a specific point on the target crown as well as on the adjacent gum, to measure impedance levels for any appreciable decreases which would indicate underlying tooth decay exists. The dental professional may then undertake proper therapeutic measures to treat such tooth locations in order to avoid far more expensive repairs, such as the implementation of bridges or implants.

The method of seaming with such an apparatus is also encompassed within this invention.
Abstract: A high inertance liquid piston engine-compressor that is lightweight, portable and for use with pneumatically actuated devices that may have periods of inactivity between periods of pneumatic use. The engine-compressor provides a power generation system that is for use with mobile or portable devices which need a portable long lasting energy source.
Abstract: Breathing equipment (10) for use in conventional operating room procedures comprises a flexible breathing bag (12) connected at one end (12.1) via a gas redirecting connector (14) to a gas guiding tube (16) and at the opposite end to a flexible exhaust gas bridging tube (18) forming part of a gas removal conduit (20) used for the remote venting of exhaled gas via a remote discharge tube (22) also forming part of the conduit (20). A breathing piece (28) is situated at the free end of the tube (16). An inhalation gas supply tube (24) passes within the tube (22) and via the connector (14) into the gas guiding tube (16) up to a position of discharge in close proximity of a user. The connector (14) is formed to cause exhaled gases from the piece (28) to pass along the tube (16) and through the bag (12) prior to remote venting to enable use of the ‘feel’ of the bag (12) during breathing assistance.
Abstract: Novel stowed staircases for attics and the like that exhibit highly effective fireproof properties are provided. The combination of sheet metal well sides with ceramic paper covering, a combination thermal board and cement-like construction door, coupled with a sealed gasket at the interface of the stair bottom with the ceiling provide the necessary long-term fireproof capabilities as well as facilitation in installation as a sufficiently lightweight article. In such a manner, the inventive stairway construction may be easily incorporated within a residential or other type unit to aid in the simultaneous accessibility to an attic (or like location) and ability to prevent fire from easily spreading into or out of said attic via the stair assembly itself.

Abstract: A vegetable butter based dietary supplement of cetyl myristoleate for use in the treatment of osteoarthritis and other joint inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system in animals, especially equines. In its preferred form, the cetyl myristoleate is a vegetable butter-based and is administered in doses of about 1750 to about 6750 mg. The dosage may also include 3000 mg methylsulfonylmethane, 3000 mg glucosamine HCL and 1000 mg of Vitamin C.
Abstract: A novel exercise device that permits opposing movement of two distinct substantially equal length end portions around a single axis is provided. Such a device permits a user to exercise the muscles in his or her wrists and forearms through rotational movement in opposing directions simultaneously. The novel device includes a tightening means to adjust the resistance of the two end portions in order to accord the user different levels of tension for selected levels of muscle workout. As such, the inventive device, being of a very small construction is easy to store and transport, further permitting the user the capability of undertaking such an exercise regimen in any selected location. A method of utilizing such a unique, small-construction exercise device is encompassed within this invention also.
Abstract: A packaged unit of composite for performing an aesthetic restoration. The unit is mounted on a polymeric film carrier material and is covered and sealed with the same or otherwise suitable covering film. The carrier film may be an elongated strip containing serially placed units of composite, each readily separable from the strip for individual usage. This packaging is in light restrictive outer packaging since the preferred unit of composite is of a light-cured material such as bis-GMA. In preferred packaging, the unit dose is singular and applicable to the tooth surface with the film carrier which is adapted with tabs to facilitate handling and the draping or damming of the subject tooth from adjacent teeth to facilitate application of the composite. The composite is then worked, i.e., formed on the tooth with the film intermediate the composite and the customary forming tools.
