Abstract: Described is a bookmark having a bookmark body, on which a bookmark clip is disposed. The bookmark clip can clam the cover or inner pages of a book to prevent the bookmark body from falling off from the book. The bookmark body is bendable and includes a protection surface of mounting the bookmark clip, a bendable surface and folding sheet capable of being inserted into content pages of a book. The bookmark can be repeatedly used for many times while having the features of being simple in structure, easy to manufacture, and flexible and convenient to use.

Abstract: A computer system includes a cache memory which is shared by multiple processors. The cache memory is divided into a plurality of regions. Each of the processor is exclusively associated with one or more of the regions. All the processors have access to all regions on hits. However, on misses, a processor can cause memory allocation only within its associated region or regions. This means that a processor can cause memory allocation only over data it had fetched. By such arrangement, the “cross-thrash” problem is avoided.

Abstract: Conventionally, a web site stores Internet data indicating file access status for the files that have been accessed in response to requests from web browsers. Unfortunately, the Internet data are kept as a set of separate and non-correlated data records that are chronologically arranged according to the times at which the requests have been received and processed. Consequently, the Internet data are not arranged meaningful to management and business operation. The present invention is able to correlate web page files (HTML, SHTML, DHTML, or CGI files) with individual users. The present invention is also able to correlate web page files with user sessions during which users perform their business transactions over the Internet.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus provide an application program user with remote interactive assistance from an application program expert. During running the application program, an information collection routine collects the information needed by the application program expert for the remote interactive assistance. In response to an assistance request, a call routine dials an application program expert based on the name of the application program, an information transfer routine transmits the collected information to the application program expert, and a display routine displays the collected information to the application program expert. The application program expert provides remote interactive assistance to the user based on the collected information.

Abstract: A ballast circuit adaptive to changes in the input voltage capable of providing a “floating” high output voltage for the operation of fluorescent lamps. The present invention employs an output voltage “floating” design in adjusting the high output voltage in response to the voltage difference between the output voltage and the rectified input voltage (i.e. error voltage) without using a feedback path from the output voltage.

Abstract: A new and improved type of ground fault interruption receptacle is mainly consists of an upper housing, a middle supporter and a lower holder. Two sets of female power-output socket 5, 6, a simulation test button (i.e. test button for fault detecting) and a reset button are disposed on the upper housing. A metal mounting plate is disposed between the upper housing and the middle supporter. At the two sides of the middle supporter is disposed a pair of metal conductors. Between the middle supporter and the lower holder is disposed a printed circuit board, and thereon a differential transformer within which an iron core is inserted, a reset guide member and a flat spring type of resilient off locking switch are arranged. Using the differential transformer and the resilient off locking switch, the receptacle of the present invention may detect whether the fault current exists and whether the damage of a certain element or member for power transmission occurs.

Abstract: A web site server provides collaborative web page navigation feature for a group of user terminals. The location information of the web pages are relayed to all following terminals of the group, while a leading terminal of the group is navigating through the web pages by using its web browser. Each of the following terminals has a web navigation synchronizer. Upon receiving the web page location information, the web navigation synchronizer updates its respective web browser and activates the browser to locate web pages according to the web page location information.

Abstract: Described is a method of creating objects for collecting textual information from a CTI server and display the textual information in an application for controlling a telephony system and for allowing users to enter information associated with a call and having this information automatically associated with the call information stored in a CTI server. The objects are created by selecting reusable image symbols and embedding them into an application, without requiring an application developer to write any programming code. After being embedded into an application, these objects are able to correct textual information from the CTI server and display the textual information within the objects. These objects are also able to collect textual information entered by a user and pass this information to the CTI server.

Abstract: Described is a method of creating intelligent command objects for controlling a telephony system by selecting reusable image symbol to an application container, without requiring an application developer to write any programming code. After being embedded into CTI, these command objects are able to automatically monitor the operation status and enable and disable themselves according to the changes of the operation status of the telephony hardware system. To control the operation of the telephony system, a user simply activates (i.e. clicks) a respective command object when it is enabled.

Abstract: An integrated computer-telephone system includes a personal computer and a plurality of telephone sets. Each of the telephone sets is coupled to multiple telephone lines via respective adapters. By activating a line button on an adapter, a respective telephone will be connected to a selected line to answer or place a call on the selected line. The integrated computer-telephone system enables the multiple telephone line access by using existing standard telephone sets in a house hold. The integrated computer-telephone system is able to control the access to the multiple telephone lines according to their operational status and to preventing the telephone sets at other extensions from being connected to a telephone line when a call is in progress on the telephone line.

Abstract: A typical conventional Graphical User Interface (GUI) displays multiple menu items, together with their respective icons (or symbols), on a display region. However, when a display region has a relatively small area, displaying icons (or symbols) together with their respective menu items makes the display region clustered, thus increasing the difficulty for a user to locate and select a desired menu item. To overcome this shortcoming, an improved GUI displays multiple menu items of a menu on a display region that contains a column window and row window. Each of the menu items contains a content field and a symbol field. The GUI only displays the symbol fields of the menu items that are scrolled into the column window and the content field of a menu item that is scrolled into the row window. In doing so, the improved GUI facilitates a user to select a desired menu item from the menu.

Abstract: A collaborative navigation server is able to share network navigation information among a group of user terminals. The server can designate one of the user terminals as a leading terminal, so that the location information of information pages are relayed to all following terminals of the group, while a leading terminal is navigating through the information pages by using its browser. The server is also able to revoke the current leading terminal and designate a following terminal as a new leading terminal and re-designate the previous leading terminal as a following terminal.

At least a portion of the architecture visual model is displayed which includes visual objects and linkages.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided to check the order, continuity and correctness for the data segments in a test message received via a network by a terminal. The test message contains a non-repeating data pattern in which any small portion of a known length is sufficient to generate the remainder of the message. To check the order and continuity of a pair of data segments, the receiving terminal needs to check only the beginning portion of the trailing segment against the ending portion of the preceding segment, thus improving the efficiency.

The web browsers retrieve web pages from an HTTP server, with each of the web pages embedding an applet. In response to web page activities (such as loading or unloading of a web page) performed at a browser, the respective applet reports the activities (together with the URL of the web page) to a synchronization server, which in turn stores them in a database.

Abstract: A network management system includes a main network management station and a backup network management station. Different physical and logic addresses are assigned to the two stations. The data packet(s) containing network management information has/have the physical and logical addresses assigned to the main network management station. Thus, only the main network management station can receive the data packet(s) containing network management information when it is in a proper operational condition. When the main network management station is about to fail, a packet (or packets) containing operational status information is/are sent to the backup network management work station, via a network. Upon receiving the operational status information, the physical and logical addresses assigned to the backup network management work station is modified as the physical and logical addresses assigned to the main network management station.

Abstract: Disclosed is a computer system and method in which a portable portion has the capability to diagnose and perform analysis for the stationary portion and for the portable portion. The computer system includes a portable computer having a network interface circuit coupled between the portable computer and a network. The network interface circuit includes a processor and a network address logic for identifying a network address associated with the portable computer. A stationary computer includes a network interface circuit coupled between the stationary computer and the network. The network interface circuit of the stationary computer sends an instruction set to the network interface circuit of the portable computer via the network based on the network address associated with the first computer. The processor on the network interface circuit of the portable computer executes the instruction set of performed diagnoses for the portable computer.
