Patent number: 6803746Abstract: A highly efficient fast charger for high capacity batteries and methods for fast charging high capacity batteries. The fast charger preferably comprises a rectified AC input of single or preferably three phases, with an optional power factor corrected input, minimally filtered with high frequency, high ripple current capacitors, which is switched with a power switching circuit in the “buck” configuration into an inductor/capacitor output filter. Metallized film capacitors are employed, to minimize the rectified 360 Hertz AC component filtering while providing transient switch protection and ripple current requirements for the buck regulator, to provide a high current fast charger with substantially improved power factor. High power, high frequency switching with minimized output filter size provides a highly filtered DC output. The fast charger is adapted to be constructed in a modular design for simple maintenance.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2002Date of Patent: October 12, 2004Assignee: Aker Wade Power Technologies, LLCInventors: John F. Patent number: 6690056Abstract: A non-volatile storage cell manufactured in a standard CMOS process in silicon on insulator is described. The cell is manufactured in a standard single polysilicon layer CMOS process applied to silicon on insulator starting substrates. Two versions of the cell are described with distinct mechanisms for writing onto a floating polysilicon layer storage node. The basic cell comprises crossed N- and P- transistors which share a common channel region and a common floating gate over the channel. Current in the channel results in charge injection through the gate oxide and onto the polysilicon gate conductor where it is permanently stored. Since both N and P type transistors are available, charge of both polarities can be injected. Application of a voltage to either of the transistors results in a current or voltage which is used to perform the reading function. Multiple variations of the cell and its operation are also described along with unique applications of the cell.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1999Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Assignee: Peregrine Semiconductor CorporationInventors: Ronald E. Patent number: 6676739Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a cellulose solution in an aqueous amine oxide, preferably N-methyl-morpholine-N-oxide, for processing to form cellulosed moulded bodies according to the Lyocell method, whereby said solution has an increased thermal stability. Cellulose is suspended in an aqueous amine oxide and the suspension is converted into the cellulose solution. The inventive method is characterised in that the base use of the cellulose used for producing the solution and of the optionally used additives is detected in a dispersion in aqueous amine oxide solution and in that the cellulose solution is formed by adding a base quantity which matches the detected own consumption of the cellulose and optionally the additives. Cellulose solutions having a stability which is essentially independent from the provenance of the used cellulose can he formed.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: Thuringishces Institut fur Textil und Kunststoff-Forschung E.V.Inventors: Birgit Kosan, Christoph Michels, Ralf-Uwe Bauer, Michael Mooz, Frank-Gunter Niemz
