  • Patent number: 7073795
Abstract: A metallic gasket having a first seal line SL1 arranged in a manner to encircle the peripheral edge of an exhaust gas hole 3, a second seal line SL2 arranged along the outer peripheral edge of a base plate 2, and full beads 6, 7 formed each in a convex cross-section by bending the base plate 2 along both seal lines. Elastic sealing material 8 to 11, the height of which is substantially equal to the height of a convex portion of the beads, are fixed to the convex portion and a flat surface continuous to the convex portion. The elastic sealing material on the flat surface is so arranged as to cover up to the opening mouth position of the exhaust gas hole 3 or a peripheral edge position of the base plate 2 and, furthermore, elastic material parts 12, 13 are filled in a concave portion of the bead on the reverse side of the convex portion. This structure of the gasket leads to cost reduction and enables the gasket to maintain a stable sealing performance for a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 7075493
Abstract: The present invention disclosed design aspects and the measured results of a miniaturized resonant narrow slot antenna. The resonant narrow slot radiating elements have a planar geometry and are capable of transmitting vertical polarization when placed nearly horizontal. A resonant narrow slot antenna according to the present invention simplifies impedance matching. Slot dipoles can be excited by a microstrip line and can be matched to arbitrary line impedances by moving the feed point along the slot. Antenna miniaturization can be achieved by using a high permittivity or permeability substrate and superstrate materials and/or using an appropriate antenna topology. Miniaturization is achieved through providing a unique geometry for a resonant narrow slot antenna. A very efficient radiating element is provided. With the virtual enforcement of the required boundary condition at the end of a slot antenna, the area occupied by the resonant antenna can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7066025
Abstract: A method for automatically balancing a drive shaft about a rotational axis. The method includes providing an unbalanced drive shaft for rotation about a rotational axis to determine an out-of-balance condition with respect to the drive shaft. A plurality of standardized weights or counterweights are provided wherein each standardized weight has a substantially equivalent mass. The method determines an optimal position for placing at least one of the standardized weights on a drive shaft to correct the out-of-balance condition. Standardized weights are then attached to the outer circumference of the drive shaft at the optimal position. The effectiveness of the added standardized weights is verified by subsequently rotating the drive shaft to determine whether an out-of-balance condition still exists. If the out-of-balance condition still exits, additional standardized weights may then be added to the circumference of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 7065105
Abstract: An apparatus for shaping the output beam of a strip of lasers, or an array of such strips, comprising a first reflective member including at least a first reflective element for deflecting a first portion of the output beam in a first direction oriented at a first angle in the slow axis direction and at a second angle in the fast axis direction, and at least a second reflective member including at least a first reflective element for deflecting the first output beam portion from the first direction to a second direction in the Z axis. The output beam is thus shaped to define at least two beams comprising at least the first portion and a remainder of the output beam which is propagated along the Z axis without deflection by any reflective member, with the first portion of the output beam being oriented approximately parallel to the un-deflected remainder.

  • Patent number: 7063357
Abstract: A flexible pipe coupling having first and second member rotatable relative to one another. The first member defines national pipe taper, or NPT, threads and the second member includes an internal swag member for forming a swagged connection with a flexible pipe. The coupling can be swagged fitted with respect to an end of a fluid transfer pipe having an inner or primary hose and an outer or secondary hose. The swaged connection can be made with the primary hose. The outside diameter of the coupling can be substantially the same as the outside diameter of the secondary hose so that the coupling can be passed through an entry boot of a sump disposed under a fuel dispenser.

  • Patent number: 7059617
Abstract: A dolly for transport of a rectangular member, such as a basket. The dolly is formed from corner members made of plastic material and having essentially hollow interiors to maintain a lightweight assembly. The corner members are interconnected by standard tubular members. The corner members are made of an upper and lower half element each having a channel therein so that when connected form a pathway for receiving the tubular members. The upper half element has an exposed surface for receiving a corner portion of the rectangular member to minimize shifting and other movement of the rectangular member.

  • Patent number: 7056239
Abstract: A throwing and catching training apparatus for sports is disclosed. The throwing and catching training apparatus provides an upright, rigid target panel having a plurality of elastomeric bumpers connected to the target panel wherein the bumpers are adaptable to deflect a thrown projectile in a random direction. A pair of support structures are connected to the target panel for supporting the target panel in an upright position. The target panel may have a cut-out portion extending through the target panel for further defining a target. An elastic mesh netting may be connected to the target panel and extend across the cut-out portion of the target panel in order that a thrown projectile may spring back from the target panel after engaging the elastic mesh netting. The shape of the bumpers allows the thrown projectile to deflect back to the user in a random direction.
