  • Patent number: 7834782
Abstract: A CABAC-type encoding device for encoding an initial flow of binary digital information for generating an output flow for forming video images after decoding, includes: elements for analyzing successive sequences of bits of the initial binary flow, bit-by-bit, and for deducing, for each bit, an interval representing the occurrence probability associated with the bit, the interval being defined by the size thereof and the lower boundary thereof; elements for analyzing the interval and ensuring a renormalization thereof. The elements for ensuring the renormalization include: a reference table containing, for each possible value of the lower boundary and the size, sequences of bits to be inserted into the output flow, and the number of unknown bits waiting to be inserted for this specific renormalization step; and elements for determining the address of the data, in this reference table.

  • Patent number: 6191440
Abstract: In a charge transfer device, a floating gate is provided in an insulating film which is provided on a charge transfer channel layer. A buffer amplifier is connected with the floating gate, and detects signal charges in the charge transfer channel layer to generate a signal indicative of an output voltage corresponding to the signal charges. A bias gate is provided in the insulating film apart from the floating gate to cover at least a part of the floating gate. A bias applying unit applies a bias voltage to the bias gate in response to the output voltage signal such that an alternate current (AC) component of a voltage of the floating gate is substantially equal to an AC component of a voltage of the bias gate.

  • Patent number: 6117165
Abstract: An expandable intraluminal endoprosthesis including a tubular member (1) a first diameter which permits intraluminal delivery of the member into a lumen of a body passageway, particularly a blood vessel. The tubular member (1) is capable of acquiring a second, expanded and deformed diameter upon the application from the interior of the tubular member of a radially outwardly extending force, which second diameter is variable and dependent on the amount of the force applied to the tubular member. Such a tubular member may be expanded and deformed to expand the lumen of the body passageway. The wall of the tubular member includes a substantially continuous structure (2) of mutually staggered undulations. This structure has been separated from a tube wall and exhibits at least one pattern which advances substantially helically along a longitudinal axis of the tubular member. Connection elements within the structure connect adjacent undulations to each other.

  • Patent number: 5357667
Abstract: A process for producing sheet-metal jackets, especially for pallet containers with an inner container of a synthetic resin, wherein a rectangular cut-to-size sheet-metal blank, the narrow sides of which are folded over into rims, is bent into a tubular member (15), and the rims (11a, 12a) of the tubular member (15) are hooked together. From the interlocked rims (11a, 12a), a series of spaced-apart connecting straps (16) is shaped by cutting and embossing toward the outside in a series parallel to the rims (11a, 12a) while leaving undeformed the rims between the spaced-apart portions. The rims (11a, 12a) are locked with respect to each other by a wire (17) pulled through the connecting straps (16), and the thusproduced tubular member (15) is shaped on a stretching press into a sheet-metal jacket.

  • Patent number: 5351298
Abstract: A public key cryptographic system uses Lucas functions as the basis for encoding and decoding messages. An encoding device and a decoding device are linked by a communication channel. The first device is able to be actuated by some message to be transmitted, M, as well as an encryption key, E, so as to form a cryptogram, C, so that C can be sent over the communication channel to a decoding device. The encryption key, E, is a pair of positive whole numbers, e and N, which match the decryption key, D, of the second decoding device. The message M must usually be broken down into blocks, M.sub.i, such that each is greater than or equal to zero and less than or equal to N-1. N is a composite number--i.e. it is made up of at least two prime numbers, p and q, such that N=p.multidot.q. The cryptographic transformation done by the encoding device can be described using the notation of Lucas functions. It is, for each ith block of message M which produces a matching ith block of the cryptogram C:C.sub.i =V.sub.e (M.

  • Patent number: 4960422
Abstract: A depilating appliance comprises a rotary depilation roller formed by a series of blades placed side by side. The blades of the roller are movably mounted on their driving shaft so as to be capable of pivoting about an axis perpendicular to the shaft. The depilation blades are actuated by means of sliding bars which are capable of producing a pivotal displacement of the blades at least once per revolution of the roller so that one blade pivots in one direction, the following blade pivots in the opposite direction, and each blade pivots about a separate and distinct axis perpendicular to the driving shaft. Two adjacent blades are thus clamped against each other opposite to the work surface, the hairs being then pinched between the two blades in order to be removed.

  • Patent number: 4938973
Abstract: Fermented milk products, such as yoghurt and buttermilk, are produced by fermentation of a suitable raw material, such as milk, with different microorganism species, in such a way that microorganisms that are beneficial in the production stage but unfavourably affect the product quality during storage, are kept apart from the fermentation mixture by means of a semipermeable membrane. The process can be carried out in a fed batch system or continuously, preferably with continous pH control. The products so obtained have improved taste and storage properties.

  • Patent number: 4692842
Abstract: An input card (7) is put in communication with apparatuses (16) the operation of which is to be monitored in order to initiate certain operations. A terminal-box (13) is interposed between the card (7), which possesses detector circuits (17), and the members (16).The two ends of each circuit (17) are associated with a respective inner terminal (12) of the terminal-box (13), and the two ends of each member (16) are associated with a respective outer terminal (14) of the terminal-box (13). Shunts (19,21) mounted in the terminal-box and connected to supply terminals (14a,14b) put one of the ends of each circuit (17) or member (16) at a common potential. The other terminal of each member (16) is connected to the other terminal of a circuit (17) by means of a connection (18).The invention is used to avoid the need for auxiliary terminal-boxes and cards with a common potential point.
