  • Patent number: 4623031
Abstract: A steering apparatus is disclosed having a direction control valve for directing pressurized fluid to a hydraulic, power steering motor in a steerable vehicle. A piston in the hydraulic motor is mechanically connected to an operator steering wheel and to the vehicle wheels. Manual turning of the steering wheel effects initial piston movement and steering of the vehicle wheels. Upon initiation of a steering maneuver by manual operation of the steering wheel of the vehicle, piston movement causes the hydraulic motor to produce a pressure differential signal. The direction control valve responds to the pressure signal from the hydraulic motor and directs pressurized fluid from the power steering pump to the side of the hydraulic motor that is lower in fluid pressure.

  • Patent number: 4621551
Abstract: A hydraulic circuit for use on a turning machine (10) having a quill (32) which is movable to an extended and retracted position for detecting, through pressure drop, when the quill (32) is fully retracted or extended and engaging a workpiece. The quill (32) is positioned by a hydraulic cylinder (40) which is operated from a hydraulic power supply (60). A pressure actuated switch (48) is connected to one of the operating ports on the hydraulic cylinder (40) and a orifice (70) is connected to the same port. By detecting when the pressure sensitive switch (48) is activated with respect to positioning of the hydraulic cylinder (40) proper functioning of the quill (32) can be determined. A timer (90) circuit is provided for determining that the pressure sensitive switch (48) changes position within a set time period after the hydraulic circuit is activated to change position of the quill (32).

  • Patent number: 4622505
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for controlling the rotation of the stepping motor in a printer. The device comprises a U-shaped frame member fixedly secured to the carriage of the printer and having opposing light emitting and receiving elements formed by the opposing legs of the frame member and a detector fitted on the drive shaft of the stepping motor for rotation with the drive shaft so as to intervene between the light emitting and receiving elements to interrupt the passage of the light from the light emitting element to the light receiving element to thereby turn the light receiving element OFF and also clear the light emitting and receiving elements to allow the light to pass from the light emitting element to the light receiving element so as to turn the light receiving element ON as the detector rotates.

  • Patent number: 4621821
Abstract: The invention provides a clamping apparatus, particularly for receiving and clampingly retaining electrode body blanks having prismatic or circular cross section for erosive machining devices. A clamping block has at one of its surfaces an essentially centrally arranged clamping chamber to receive the electrode. Two adjacent walls of the clamping chamber are provided with clamping screws protruding into the clamping chamber. An approximately central position of the workpiece in the clamping chamber is achieved by the provision of distance plates with preselectable thickness, which are inserted into the clamping chamber between two walls thereof and the surface of the workpiece, before the workpiece is clamped by tightening the clamping screws. This clamping apparatus is inexpensive and rugged, so that the electrode, once machined and used, respectively, may always remain clamped and therefore may be used again with a very high precision as far as its position is concerned.

  • Patent number: 4617809
Abstract: In flow presses for the production and processing of leather, especially in sammying (drying) machines, the need exists for a preliminary effective stretching and widening of the leather to prevent the forming of creases. In a flow press with a pair of pressing rolls (W1, W2), there is arranged for this purpose in the zone of the entrance wedge (EZ) of the rolls, a stretching device (ARV) acting transverse to the flow direction (P1) of the leather, which is adjustable between an open position (OST) permitting introduction of the leather, and a working position (AST) with stretching tools (RW1, RW2) acting on the leather. This permits a perfect introduction of the leather, with visual control and with possibilities of correction. The slight distance attainable between the end section (EA) of the stretching tool and the roll pressing zone (PRZ), especially with non-rotating plate-form stretching tools, favors the suppression of creases in the pressing process.

  • Patent number: 4616671
Abstract: A valve that directs flow from an inlet to at least two outlets, and which counterbalances flow induced forces that tend to restrict flow to one of its outlets. The valve has a valve chamber formed in a housing, and the inlet communicates fluid to the valve chamber. A valve member is movable in the valve chamber to communicate fluid from the inlet to the two outlets. The valve member has a land which fluid flows across as the fluid flows from the inlet to one of the outlets, and the fluid flowacross that land creates a force which acts on the valve member urging the valve member in a first direction in which flow across the land to the one outlet is restricted. Means communicates fluid pressure from the other outlet to the valve member to apply a force to the valve member that urges the valve member in a second direction that is opposite the first direction, to counterbalance the flow induced forces on the valve member.

  • Patent number: 4616571
Abstract: The invention discloses a panel section interconnecting member adapted to be used in the construction of shelf structures or shelf-like furniture. It comprises a generally rectangular base plate member of essentially flat configuration, one surface thereof comprising four generally tetrahedrally shaped supporting members protruding therefrom. First side walls of the supporting members are arranged essentially parallel and with a certain distance to second side walls of an adjacent supporting member, defining therebetween receiving channels adapted to receive horizontal and vertical panel members of a shelf structure to be erected. The so-formed channels thereby have an essentially cross-like configuration and the base plate comprises a central opening provided in the center of said cross for receiving a mounting screw or the like mounting member to mount the interconnecting member to a wall.

  • Patent number: 4615688
Abstract: The invention provides a coupling device with a first, driven member and a second member to be driven by the first member to a rotational movement. A driving plate is arranged between the two members and fixedly connected to the second member. In order to provide an angularly and centrically well defined position of the two members relative to each other, said first driven member is equipped with a centrically as well as an eccentrically arranged driving pin, the outer surfaces thereof having at least partially a conical shape. The conical parts of the surfaces engage with openings correspondingly arranged in the driving plate, which is elastically deformed upon connection of the second member to the first member.

  • Patent number: 4615618
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for determining the relationship between a vehicle's thrust line and the vehicle's body center line. A movable light source is located externally of and independent of the vehicle and serves to establish a pair of reference light beams falling in parallel planes and which are spaced apart sufficient to permit a vehicle to be positioned longitudinally therebetween. The vehicle's thrust direction is determined by mounting sensors on the nonsteerable wheels so as to extend transversely away from the vehicle's body to intercept the light beams, together with circuitry for providing output indications dependent upon the location of light interception and which indications are representative of the vehicle thrust direction. The body center line is determined by employing targets which are mounted to body sides of the vehicle to intercept reference light beams.

  • Patent number: 4615638
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a ball joint for motor vehicles with a bearing shell arranged between a joint housing and a ball head. The shell is provided at one end with elastically deformable ribs projecting from a stop surface. So that the ribs, after compensating for production tolerances, can absorb, in the elastically deformable zone, additional axial shock loads occurring in driving operation, it is proposed that the ribs be designed as square ribs, running radially, and separated by grooves from the stop surface adjoining their side walls, while the volume of each rib projecting above the stop surface, before mounting, is approximately equal to the free volume of the two grooves adjacent to it, so that the side walls of the grooves lying next to the stop surface act in the mounted condition as support walls for the elastically deformed ribs.
