  • Patent number: 7875174
Abstract: An input chamber receives runoff water to be cleaned. Part of the way up the chamber wall is a restricted outlet which feeds a system for cleaning the water. At a still higher elevation another opening allows runoff water to flow to another cleaning system. Near the top of the chamber is an outlet pipe. A vertical baffle in front of the outlet cleans water that flows under the baffle on its way to the outlet. When the incoming flow rate is very high, water passes over the baffle to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 7128702
Abstract: An exercise machine designed to exercise the upper body, focusing particularly on the core abdominal muscles but also on the arms, shoulders and chest. The machine comprises a structural frame with an adjustable seating mechanism, a handlebar and one or more position-adjustable targets against which a user throws a weighted ball. The machine provides two modes of exercise. In the seated mode the user exercises the abdominal muscles by rocking the body while seated in the flexible, adjustable-resistance, back-supported seating mechanism. The back support element of the seating mechanism is adjustable into a flat position, effectively converting the seat into a bench. In bench mode, the user, laying face up on the bench and holding onto the handlebar for stability, exercises the lower abs by performing leg-raising crunches. The machine is designed to be uniquely stimulating and fun to use. It may be folded compactly for storage.

  • Patent number: 7048517
Abstract: The invention is a device and method in a high-pressure chromatography system, such as a supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) system, that uses a pump as a pressure source for precision pumping of a compressible fluid. The preferred exemplary embodiment comprises a pressure regulation assembly installed downstream from a compressible fluid pump but prior to combining the compressible flow with a relatively incompressible modifier flow stream. The present invention allows the replacement of an high-grade SFC pump in the compressible fluid flow stream with an inexpensive and imprecise pump. The imprecise pump becomes capable of moving the compressible fluid flow stream in a precise flow rate and pattern. The assembly dampens the damaging effects of an imprecise pump, such as large pressure oscillations caused by flow ripples and noisy pressure signals that do not meet precise SFC pumping requirements.

  • Patent number: 6873528
Abstract: A heat dissipation element which can be shaped as a flat plate for transfer of heat to the opposite side of a mounting channel in a chassis for holding circuit cards. Circuit cards are typically held in place in channels in a chassis by an expansion type retention device. The circuit cards also include a heat frame for collecting the heat produced by the card components and channeling the heat from the card through the heat frame to the chassis. The retention device presses the heat frame in to thermal contact with one side of the channel. The heat dissipation plate is held in thermal contact with the other side of the channel, providing a second additional heat path to channel heat away from individual components, the circuit card and/or the heat frame.

  • Patent number: 6685828
Abstract: A system for collection of liquid phase sample fractions from a supercritical fluid chromatography system is disclosed. The system has different ways of gathering the liquid phase into a collection chamber and provides for automated removal of liquid phase from a collection chamber into separate collection container. A separate pressure scheme is invoked upon the collection chambers to move liquid phase out of a chamber and into the separate collection container. In addition, the invention provides a renewal system for the collection chambers where each chamber returns to an uncontaminated stated by washing with a cleaning solution after removal of collected liquid phase. Spent cleaner from a chamber is purged using the pressure system into a waste stream for disposal.
