  • Publication number: 20210352782
Abstract: A microwave heating apparatus is provided herein comprising a tubing conduit consisting of two or more removable bend portions connected to each other. The tubing conduit is supported by a support system. Each removable bend portion includes a microwave emitter to heat a fluid flowing through the conduit. The apparatus can replace or be integrated into existing heating equipment used in, for example, steam cracking of hydrocarbons. Also provided are pipe segments, such as spools, that are adapted for heating a fluid by applying microwave energy. The pipe segments can be lined with microwave absorbing materials and comprise an opening through which an insert comprising a microwave emitter can be removably inserted and retained.

  • Patent number: 10486206
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus includes a cable with spacers along the length of the cable for insertion into a tube with bends. Each of the spacers have a sphere-like body and have a diameter that is approximately the same as an inner diameter of the tube. Each neighboring pair of spacers are spaced apart from each other at approximately the same distance as the inner diameter of the tube. The cleaning apparatus is suited for passing through tubing within cracking furnaces and heat exchangers, which typically have many U-bends.

  • Publication number: 20180147611
Abstract: Cleaning the inside surfaces of tubes in a cracking furnace, or other type of structure with tubes, is very difficult and time consuming. An acoustic energy cleaning apparatus is provided that is clamped onto a tube, and a liquid solvent is filled within the tube. The cleaning apparatus includes an ultrasonic transducer that causes cavitation of the liquid inside the tube, which dislodges material build-up. The apparatus also includes a rigid seal cover that encompasses a lower portion of a transducer housing, and an annular resilient seal positioned within and below the seal cover. The apparatus also includes an injection hole that fluidly connects a space, defined at least by the annular resilient seal and a bottom surface of the acoustic transducer, to an external environment. A user injects gel into the injection hole.
