Abstract: A medical end-site disinfecting device including an interface device and a volume of liquid disinfectant. The interface device is configured to interface with a medical end-site, and includes at least one of a housing, an element, and a core. At least one component of the interface device defines at least one capillary channel. The volume of liquid disinfectant is retained along the capillary channel. The capillary channel is configured to generate a capillary effect to transport the liquid disinfectant along the interface device. In some embodiments, the capillary channel is configured to retain at least a portion of the volume of liquid disinfectant along a length of the capillary channel, for example to apply the retained volume of the liquid disinfectant device onto the medical end-site during use.

Abstract: Devices and methods for sterilizing the outer and inner surfaces of a working end-site of a medical device such as a catheter hub, luer connector, luer component, needleless access site, and/or access port are discussed. The sterilizing device can include a housing, a sterilizing element including an antipathogenic agent configured for sterilizing the working end-site of a medical device, and a cap hingedly coupled to the housing and configured to hermetically seal the sterilizing element within the housing. One or more features on the cap and housing serve to hermetically seal the cap to the housing prior to use.

Abstract: The sterilizing tool is configured to wipe debris from and to sterilize and/or dry a working end-site of medical device; using a wiping, twisting, dabbing, push/pull, and/or screwing motion around all of the surface aspects of the device to be sterilized. Additionally, the sterilizing tool is configured to form fit to the surfaces of the end-site and to apply an inclusive layer of an anti-pathogenic agent to the inner and outer surfaces of the working end-site. The sterilizing tool may be frictionally engaged with and retained on the working end-site until removed and the end-site is ready for use. The sterilizing tool is intended for a one time, single use, disposable application.
