A customer diagnostic center is configured to generate customer examination data pertaining to an examination of a customer's eye. The customer diagnostic center provides a user interface for communicating with a customer and ophthalmic equipment for administering tests to the customer. A diagnostic center server is configured to receive the customer examination data from the customer diagnostic center over a network and allow the customer examination data to be accessed by an eye-care practitioner. A practitioner device associated with the eye-care practitioner is configured to receive the customer examination data from the diagnostic center server and display at least a portion of the customer examination data to the eye-care practitioner. Customer evaluation data is generated pertaining to the eye-care practitioner's evaluation of the customer examination data. An eye health report is provided to the customer via the network.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for obtaining sight screenings, optical prescriptions and fittings for eyeglasses and contact lenses. A system can be self-operated through a voice-activated response system that enables an individual to determine one's own refraction, or can be operated with the assistance of a technician. A plurality of customer diagnostic locations can include digital equipment and optical instruments to conduct the sight screening. The data generated at these locations can be transferred to a remotely located eye doctor who interacts with a customer via a live audio-video connection to assist with interpreting the data, diagnosing the customer and operating the instruments at the locations. The eye doctor diagnoses, consults and authorizes the prescriptions for the customer. The customer's data can be sent to a lens laboratory to enable the fabrication, purchasing, and delivery of eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Abstract: A system and method for obtaining a sight screening as well as previous and current optical prescriptions (specifications) for purchase of glasses and contact lenses operated by one's self, through a voice-activated response self-refraction, or a technician/optician assisted refraction, at a convenient location or possibly several different customer diagnostic, electronic store locations where digital instruments interface and may transfer either directly back to the customer, or to a remote, interactive audio-video diagnosing and assisting, consulting eye doctor (ophthalmologist or optometrist) who interprets the digital data, diagnoses, consults, delivers health care, and authorizes the specifications, whereby the store technician/optician gathers data for purchase and electronically sends the data to a lens lab for fabrication and delivery of glasses or contact lenses to the store or directly to the customer.
